Monitor question

We are getting a sound/noise monitor...or whatever its called.  Does it matter how far apart the babies are?  We've played around with a couple configurations with the nursery.  With one of them the cribs would be next to each other and the other way they would be about 8 ft apart.  Would one monitor work if they are apart?  I cant find anything about this in the product descriptions and was hoping that some of you may have some answers. TIA

Re: Monitor question

  • You just need 1 monitor in the room, it will be sensitive enough to pick up all the noises both babies make :)

Unless you're using a video monitor... I can't help with that because we didn't use them.

  • Loading the player...
  • Just one monitor will work just fine!  Obviously I would assume a video monitor you would need one on each crib, but I really don't know as I didn't use them.
  • Ditto the others. We sometimes had the babies nap in adjoining bedrooms and put the monitor just outside the door so it could pick up both rooms, and we could hear fine; we just had to turn up the receiver volume a bit.

(We have the Sony BabyCall monitor; it's a really good monitor but not too expensive.)

  • If you are using a sound/noise only monitor just one should be fine (even if the babies are spaced apart).

If you were using a video monitor you would get two cameras and they will work better when apart.

  • you would also need 2 if you use the angelcare monitors (that is what we have)... We also have a regular sound monitor that we have downstairs- with the parent unit in our hallway upstairs- so when i'm home alone and the babies are napping downstairs I can hear them if I go upstairs to shower.
