preeclampsia ?

I had preeclampsia when pregnant with my twins, and they ended up being delivered by emergency C-section at 31.3 weeks because of it (my own doc hadn't done any labwork for awhile...that's another whole story...so it was discovered at a specialty visit, totally unexpected!).  I'm just curious if any of you have experienced that, and if it has reoccurred when you've been pregnant with any subsequent singleton babies?

I asked my doc about this at an appt recently, but she said it could or could not, we'll just have to wait & see.  I feel like I want a better answer than that (haha) because I'm a SAHM and I'm worried about having preeclampsia again with my next pregnancy & needing to find someone to watch my toddler twins if I'm put on bedrest!

Re: preeclampsia ?

  • You do have to wait and see unfortunately.  Your doc should keep a better eye out for it but just because you had it with your twins doesn't mean you will have it with a singleton.  You were at higher risk for pre-e just because of being pg with twins but hopefully your singleton pg will be different.

  • Unfortunately you do have to wait and see.  I delivered early because of pre-e as well.  I am being monitored very closely this time around as a precaution because of the pre-e.
