1st Trimester

Hey PG ladies--question for you

So, DH and I are trying for our second child--but as background--I had NO symptoms at all with my first.  Nothing.  Which was great--but it leaves me with some questions...

So, I understand that many PG symptoms come from elevated HCG--but can you have symptoms before you can detect HCG on a pg test?

I have certainly heard about phantom symptoms--but it is curious to me that so many people swear they knew before they could test.  For purposes of full disclosure--I kind of feel that way.  I need some sense talked in to me.  :)  What do you think.

Re: Hey PG ladies--question for you

  • I felt pregnant (but didn't recognize it as such) well before we could have detected hcg.  I was so exhausted just a few days after I ovulated and one of my friends that had had a baby was sure I was KU before I tested (on day one of missed AF).

  • I didn't test till 3 days after my missed period but the entire week before that I was exhausted and had some mild nausea on and off. Not sure if that helps but I was kind of thinking that I may just be making up the symptoms because I was hoping I was pregnant.
  • I'm one of those crazy women that "knows" something is off and knew I was pg. My DD knew before I did. My only symptoms were I was soooo tired and my appetite was HUGE

  • I absolutely KNEW. Sore boobs, EXHAUSTED, low back pain..etc. This all started probably 7 or so DPO and I got my BFP at 11 DPO (although I got a negative at like 9 DPO) - yes i know it was stupid to test that early but i FELT so pregnant!
  • I was completely exhausted and a little nauseous, 3 days before my MP.  Test was negative.  I tested then 5 days after MP and got a +.  Good luck!

  • I felt kind of off. But just thought they were phantom symptoms. I felt 'off balance' I had a food aversion. UCK dippy eggs. and I was getting REALLY tired suddenly.

    Good Luck!

  • I definitely felt off, but DH and I were traveling (across the country) so I chalked it up to travel and the fact that AF was due any second.

One day after missed AF, I had a huge aversion to coffee, which I LOVE. That was odd...and I was slightly nauseous too, but again, I thought it was all the travel. The next morning I POAS and that line was daaaark!

I had phantoms symptoms before, but it always ended with my period. This time, the only sign I had was a positive test.

    This.

  • I had sore boobs way early on.  Then about a week and a half before my BFP I started getting extremely tired and irritable.  I tested on a Tues and it was negative.  Started with my nausea about the same day.  Tested again on Saturday and it was positive.

    Me too!

  • I swore I was pregnant and I took a pregnancy test and it came negative.  I waited a week and took another one and it was positive.  I didn't have any symptoms, but I just FELT like it.

This was me. The 2 times I was pg I really had no symptoms, other than typical AF symptoms.

  • I tested a week after AF was due, but in that week I couldn't keep my eyes open and I started gagging when I was picking up after my dogs.  Something I haven't done since my first pregnany.  I didn't realize these things at the time, but looking back it was a sure sign.
