Hill Country OBGYN Gals...

I am going to take the birth classes they have, but wanted to see if anyone took the breastfeeding ones. would you rec them? i am on the fence about that one, or if i should just talk to a lc if i have a problem? thoughts? this is my first time going thru this, so i really have no idea. lol.

Re: Hill Country OBGYN Gals...

  • I didn't take one, but I'd find out who teaches them.  The LCs I had at SSW were less than helpful.  Maybe that's because they were busy (all 6 PP rooms were full), but I think if I'd had a better start my nips wouldn't have ended up in the shape they were in by the time I saw Cheryl at Special Addition.

If I had it to do over again I'd probably take a class from SA.

  • I didn't take a class through Hill Country but did take the one through Special Addition.  I would take one and make your husband go.  I felt like I had already learned a lot by reading so much on this board, but it was a good class and helpful for dh to go and hear the info too.  I did not like the LC that we saw at SSW either, but our pedi has one at their office and she was really helpful the first few weeks.
  • i took the hill coutry one and dont particularly reccomend it .  We took the full childbirth class (through Seton...which i don't actually think is the same as teh one Hill Country advertises) and they covered breastfeeding in just a few minutes.  But, the three hour breastfeedign class felt like it covered the same information just over THREE hours, which was excruciating...and the woman's voice who taught it (who is not one of the LC's, by the way) was especially grating on my ears.  I feel bad saying that but I just could not enjoy listening to the class!

Personally, if i had to do it over, i would read breastfeeding info, etc. but save my money for personalized advice with an LC.
