3rd Trimester

How many 36+ weekers are still working?

I remember in 1st Tri it seemed like most everyone was planning on working until LO comes... now that we are nearing the end, I'm wondering who is still working?

I am still working full time, but have 2 weeks off for Christmas and New Years starting on the 24th and I cannot wait! When I go back in January I'll be 38 weeks and plan on either working shorter days or one day less per week.

I'm just wondering what your plans are???

  • I'll be working until she comes popping out.  I just don't have enough PTO to take any extra.

  • I am a full time student and part time worker. The semester ended last week so I've been working full time and I will do so until my maternity leave is here (although I do have some days off for the holidays!).

  • I worked until 39 wks 3 days and I am soooo glad I did.  The past week of waiting has been excrutiating.  I'm burning through vacation days and not really having a great time or anything.

  • I am still at work- and will be until he decides to come out! I have the 24th through New Year's off- but suppose to return on Jan. 4th- my EDD is the 6th - so maybe I won't have to come back to work....Stick out tongue
  • I planned to work until I went into labor.  Then I got toward the end and started getting really uncomfortable.  My last day will be the 30th, so I'll start leave at 38 weeks.  I had an appointment today and dr said I could go into labor "any day now."  I'm not sure what that means since it seems like I could also hang around for another 4 weeks easily.  But whatever.  I'm hoping not to burn too much of my maternity leave before LO arrives, but I've got to take a break.
  • Today will likely be my last day.  If I really feel motivated I may come in Monday and Tuesday next week, but its unlikely. =o)

  • I'm past 36 weeks and still working.... but my last day is today. I would keep going until baby comes but the holiday happened to fall before my EDD... so I get an extra break!

  • Still working.  I will likely be induced on Jan. 4, so my last day in the office will be Dec. 31.
  • I'm a painter so I can't really do my job anymore - too much lifting, climbing ladders, etc. I've been picking up other little freelance jobs that are easier to do, like organizing paperwork. I can also sub out some work and collect a little bit of cash without doing any of the physical labor. I'm just trying to do what I can. I have a unique situation where I can make one month's income in a couple of weeks, so I'm actually already set for December. Still, every penny helps.
  • I am!  I'll be here until Christmas break starts on Christmas Eve, then I'll be off until Jan 4.  If I don't have an outside baby by then, I will be back unless my midwives give me a medical reason I need to stay home.

  • I'm working until labor... but with the weekends and holidays off things won't be so bad!

The pictures in your sig are really cute!

  • I would of worked up till the day I gave birth, but I have lots of vacation to use up or I'm gooing to lose them.  So I'm stoping today, close to 39 weeks.
  • I am 41 weeks today and still here at work.  Today's the last day though, because I'm being induced Monday night.  I work a desk job and it really hasn't been that bad to work these last few weeks.  I took a few random Wednesdays off so it was nice to have a break in the middle of the week.  And of course my clothes and shoes are getting more uncomfortable so I've had to adjust that.  But at least I'll be able to take more time off after the baby is here, by working right up until the end.

  • I have a desk job and I walk down 1 flight of stairs from my apartment to get to my office.  So I will be working until the end unless my doc says to stop for some reason.  I want to save all my vacation days for when LO gets here!!
  • I worked until 38 and 1/2 weeks.... wish I would have worked longer since I"m still here!  But there is no way to know...
  • Still working and will be doing so until I go into labor or one of my doctors says I absolutely can't anymore.  I even fell down the stairs and broke my elbow on Tuesday and came in to work the next day!  My boss says I 'truly demonstrate the strength of a woman.'  My coworkers say I'm 'crazy.'

If I could afford to take more time off, I would.  But only 2/3 of my leave is paid and I have a mortgage to pay.  And I want as much time with baby as humanly possible.

  • I'm working till the end. That way I can spend the most time w/ the baby.

  • Not 36 weeks yet, but I will be by the time school starts again.  I'm a substitute teacher, and I plan on being available until 5 days before my due date.  I already have jobs lined up at 36 and 38 weeks...

  • My due date is the 11th and I told them I would not be coming in after the 8th. I work over an hour away from home and my hospital. So, that is the plan unless my doctor thinks I need to do otherwise.

  • Today is my last day of work (@ 38 wks) but only because we have a 2 week holiday shut down and my EDD is on 12/31. If I don't have postive signs of labor by the time we reopen, I'll probably be back. :) GL to everyone trying to make it through these last few weeks!

  • Not 36 but I still intend to work til the end.
  • I'm working today, but it's my last day :)

After all of the false labor I've been experiencing since last night (most of which was pretty darn painful), I'm really glad to be done.

  • I just hit 37 weeks today and am still working.  I'm scheduled to work through next Thursday and will have one week off before LO arrives (scheduled section).

  • Well I intended on working until the end but that was before I learned that baby's head engaged (-1 station) = can't walk very well. As a nurse, I physically just can't do my job any longer so I stopped last week.
  • Today is the first day I am taking off and don't plan on going back.  I was having contractions this morning pretty regular so decided to stay home now wouldn't you know they have pretty much stopped.  So I made it to 39 and a half weeks working full time.
  • Today is my last day.  I cannot imagine working a day longer - thankfully the timing worked out well with the holiday break.

  • I'm still working, either until I go into labor or until the day after my EDD (3 weeks from today!). I wasn't going to take off before labor, but since the Dr told me she wouldn't let me go over 41.5 weeks, and we have enough saved up for me to have that extra week and a half off, I'm going to take it.

  • Working.  Miserable.  But working.  3rd graders at Christmas time are a bit much to handle!

  • My doc made yesterday my last day (high BP), but today was going to be my last day anyway so it worked out fine.
