Ok so I started my new job a few weeks back and I am not so sure what my boss was expecting of me when I first started, but I have exceded his expectations. I have been in sales my whole working life. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but toot toot! So here is the delema. You saw yesterday that he agrred to give me a raise plus I have to go to these new classes. No biggie cool.
But today he asked that I hand some sales over to the older lady that has been here a long time, because she doesn't have any. Now I'm all for sharing, but not for carrying anybody! I did not complain or say a word... I really don't know how to say it without hurting anyones feelings. But I normally go for the jugular and get my sales. I'm nice and sweet when I need to be. I really don't look like a threat, but I am and I really don't want to let that be known as of yet!
My question is WWYD?
Re: Need some advise.... NGPR
I would comply with his request now, since it is the first time he has asked.
However, if he asks again, you should speak to him about it and figure out how you will get credit for the sales you are transferring.
Good for you for being such a rockstar at work!
I think I would go ahead and honor his request, as long as there are absolutely no consequences to you for having that many fewer sales. Also, I'd (gently) let boss man know every time you did that, so that he'd know how many of those sales are truly yours. Don't let it start a pattern of them taking advantage of you either.
Go get 'em!
rawr hehe
I agree with her!
Thanks this is kinda what I was thinking. But I have the most sales already in this week than they have in a month so I really don't think it will be an issue. I just don't want to work my butt off and have to hand over money like that! The way I see it keep up or get left behind.
Thanks ladies for you suggestions and help! I will be talking with my boss before the end of the day! I will graant his request as long as this does not become a habit!
This is crazy. YOU worked hard to get what YOU earned! The mentality is be kind and help out a co-worker, whom happens to be older. Why in the hell didnt he ask any other sales person, who wouldn't be as hurt to take a few losses?
I'm on the fence with your boss' request. But whatever makes you feel good, and hopefully you dont FEEL forced to comply. How many is he exactly asking for you to trade off or for how long does this have to continue? Emphasis, on the fact that these sales could/are cutting into your pay, but increasing someone elses. Sorry I have been burnt at at job before, thats why I hate idea of someone getting crediting for not putting in the work or be as aggressive as myself.
GL girl!
