I am fighting off a nasty cold...kind of sore throat, stuffy alternating with runny nose, and tiredness (could be from the cold or first tri symptom). Of course, I can't take any really good cold meds. My question though is while my immune system is fighting this off, is it a problem for the developing embryo?? Is there a chance of m/c (please don't laugh...I don't know and am terrified that anything could cause it) due to a cold?? Your thoughts and advice are appreciated (and I'll keep sucking on Halls cough drops).

Re: What does this do for baby??
Not funny at all...I got a cold 3 days after I POAS this pregnancy and I was terrified. Just drink a TON of water and keep taking your temp to make sure you don't get a fever (you probably won't get one if it's a cold). If you do get a fever, take Tylenol, but otherwise, just keep drinking (and as much as you can, sleep).
I found a LOT of sources that said that colds had no effect on the baby - only a fever will. So manage the fever, and LO should be fine.
I'm not laughing. It's a genuine fear.
But, baby should be fine. just make sure you stay hydrated and rest. Dehydration is the main thing to be worried about when you're sick and pregnant.
Hope you feel better!
Bloggin' It
this is what i've heard.
No one would ever flame you on this board for having a fear of m/c. I agree with a pp -rest, stay hydrated, and just manage any fever. And feel better. You can also gargle with salt water for your sore throat and sit in a steamy bathroom or put your head over a bowl of steamy water to clear your head.
