If I'm timing contractions, do I stop timing when the wave of pain ends, or when my stomach gets soft again? Often the pain stops about 10 or so seconds before my stomach gets soft.

I time between the start of one to the start of the next. I don't keep track of the length of the contraction unless they are occuring in some kind of pattern.
I'm using contractionmaster.com, and you click start when it starts, and stop when it stops, and it keeps track of the frequency for you, so I guess I'm wondering when to click stop. That way I also know how long they are, not just the time between them.

from the start of the first one to the start of the next one...so if you have one start at 10:20 and then pain goes away, tummy gets soft, and then it starts again at 10:24, they are 4 minutes apart
i use the same contraction calculator, click start when one starts, and stop when the next starts, then start (again) when the next one starts, and so on
