Another GI bug victim...spent the night in L&D

I wasn't feeling all that well on Monday, but I thought I was just tired. Starting feeling worse around 7` and started vomiting around midnight. Was up all night vomiting every hour. Started having abdominal pain/cramping/tightening around 5, so I called the on-call OB and went in to L&D.

I was having a lot of uterine irritability and was actually contracting every 5 minutes at one point. I got 16 mg of Zofran total, and a bunch of phenergan. My heart rate was still over 120 after 2 liters of IV fluid, so I got Procardia to stop the contractions - luckily had no side effects from that, and it didn't drop my semi-low BP too much.

They did a fetal fibronectin test which was negative, and my cervix was not dilated.

I got a total of 5 liters of IV fluid, and only peed out 500 ml - dry as a bone! Even today my urine is still brown, so I'm trying to really force fluids so I don't wind up contracting more.

Oh, and we heard hiccups on the monitor for the first time, that was pretty cool. :)

I hope no one else gets it, it sucks! (I just got off my Reglan pump at 22 weeks, too, I wasn't ready for another puke-fest.) ;)

    ugh- that is the worst!

    I got 2 stomach viruses when i was pg with the twins- once early on, and then once at 27w which landed me in L&D to get fluids - it was horrible- i was running to the bathroom in the middle of talking to the doctor - it just kept coming out (i only threw up once- but wished i was throwing up vs. pooping!)

    glad you are doing OK! Babies, too!

    I feel for you - I was in on Sunday night for the same exact thing.  Got two shots of terb, 2 L of saline, potassium and zofran.
