bouncy seats

Does anyone use the bouncy seats for sleeping at night. My girls love them and sleep great in them. May be a dumb question but is it okay to have them in for long periods of time especially at night? We are just testing what works.

Re: bouncy seats

  • For a while our younger son would only sleep either in his bouncer or on my husband's chest : )  I haven't heard anything saying that it's not considered safe.... and it seemed the safer option compared to sleeping on hubby's chest!

We were just at BRU tonight and saw a new infant rocker seat (in the bouncer aisle) that's actually meant to be slept in overnight.

  • I don't think they recommend them for sleeping in.  HOwever, I am a firm believer in doing what works for you.  Maybe you can move them after they fall asleep?
  • I'm another one who says do what works.  My DDs slept a lot (including nights) in their Boppy bouncers for their first couple months because they slept better in them than in their crib.

  • Our twins nap in them everyday - probably about 1-1 1/2 hours at a time.  I have thought about using them at night because they sleep so well in them and not in their cribs, but I decided against it.  One of our twins was in the NICU for a while and they discouraged them sleeping anywhere but a crib at night.

  • My DD would only sleep in her swing for the first several weeks. I think looking back that it was more than likely because she wasn't lying flat on her back and it helped with her reflux issues. Makes sense to me to do what works.
