It doesn't surprise me. DH and I bought the book; I read it and was not a fan and asked DH to read it and see if he thought I was over reacting and when he finished, he promptly put it in our recycling stack.
Some of our friends swear by it, but it just wasn't our style at all.
I've already been given this book twice. The women at work swear by it and say it's the "only" way to be a working mom. I don't support this method and won't be using it for my child.
I also know people who swear by it. But, I just couldn't imagine making a newborn wait.. while hungry... to eat. K still eats on demand, although she has set her own schedule.
Yes, night feedings suck while you are a working mom. But it's just something you deal with, IMO.

Ugh! Seriously - a 2 week old should be able to eat whenever they want to. I hate that society thinks that babies need to be STTN at 8 weeks (or less!!!) Its not fair to an infant!

what? I can't expect her to STTN at only a few wks old?!?!!? dang it. (This is totally me being sarcastic!!!!)

I agree 100%!! No one said being a mom of a newborn is easy. These people are selfish. It is wrong to expect so much out of a newborn. It angers me.
Not suprising at all. I think the quote at the top of this blog sums it all up "Remember, you are not managing an inconvenience; You are raising a human being" ~ Kittie Franz
Jenna did not STTN (truly) until 13 months. I was up EVERY SINGLE NIGHT at 4 am from about 6 - 13 months, and you know what, it sucked, but I did what it took to care for my child.

This book was highly recommended to me and I haven't cracked it open yet. After reading this, I really want to burn it:
Though ?Babywise? does say, ?With PDF a mother feeds her baby when the
baby is hungry,? it also instructs parents to do otherwise. In a question-and-answer section, parents of a 2-week-old baby, who did
not get a full feeding at the last scheduled time and wants to eat
again, are instructed that babies learn quickly from the laws of
natural consequences. ?If your daughter doesn?t eat at one feeding,
then make her wait until the next one.?
The laws of natural consequences? To a 2-week-old? I have nothing at all to say and if I did, I wouldn't even validate that BS by saying.

This....100%. IMO, it's verging on child abuse.
