I didnt do any first tri screening, or NT scan. My doctor asked if I wanted to do the 2nd tri screening, but I really dont know if I want to do it. I am only 20 so my risks for DS are already low. Plus, I dont want to worry to wait to get the results back, or worry if it comes back abnormal and really is a false positive.
I am still having my big u/s in a few weeks though to have all those measurements done.
WDYT or what did you do? Why?
Re: Anyone NOT do any screening?
I didn't do any additional testing with either of my girls, and they are both perfect. We decided that we weren't going to terminate if they found anything anyway, so why worry ourselves especially when those tests have a high false-positive rate?
We did have our 20w anatomy scan, and I"ll have one more u/s to see where the baby is for the c/s. Other than that, just regular testing for us!

Our family is complete!
This for me too. I didn't have any risk factors and I didn't want to needlessly worry about test results.
We did the NT scan solely to get another look at our LO. Period. My nurse said "free" and "ultrasound" in the same sentence, so I was all over that. Of course it was beyond wonderful to hear our LO was completely healthy and very low risk. We got our results immediately after the u/s. I'm also glad we did it because to date it's the only u/s where we've been able to see our LO moving all around.
You do whatever you feel is best.
This exactly. Our insurance covered it 100% and it was another chance to see what our LO was up to. If you're comfortable with your decision that's all that should really matter.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
Same here. We declined any special screenings or tests this time around. We did the 1st tri screening last time and got good results, then found out about the loss at the NT scan. I just couldn't put myself through that again, plus, the tests never showed that anything was wrong with the baby and I still lost him. So in my mind, I thought what was the point of going through that again if it really isn't telling?
I'm having so many u/s this time around, we figured we're likely to see something "wrong" if there's an issue.
I decided to do it because my insurance covers it and why not get prepared JUST in case there are any problems?
Plus I REALLY want to see the baby so I am looking forward to the 3D Ultrasound!
Nope, we didn't do it last time or this time, with a caveat. Last time, we didn't do it because we would not have terminated or done a CVS or amnio and we really didn't care what the odds were of having a child with certain problems. Then, that pregnancy ended, but since it was due to a molar pregnancy, we needed additional screening at 7w and 10w to verify that the placenta hadn't grown out of control (the mole growing back - acts like a tumor, which can be cancer). So at the 10w scan, LO was a week ahead and they went ahead and measured the NT anyway.
If we wanted the odds of certain issues, we would have had to pair the measurement with a blood test, but I specifically opted out of the blood test. I didn't want to know, even though insurance would cover it.
That was way long. I have to say, the NT was nice in that we know LO is probably healthy, but if I had a third pregnancy, I still probably wouldn't opt for an NT scan unless I was looking for something like molar regrowth.
We did screening, but I would have worried more without it than with it, I think. (My screening results have all been reassuring so far.)
Also, my local hospital doesn't have a NICU, which made it especially important for me that my doctors and I had as much information as possible pre-delivery - if a problem looked likely, I wanted to be as prepared as possible and give baby the best possible chances.
