Pregnant after a Loss

XP from TTCAL- Clotting disorders

haven't posted much on this board but I thought I would come here to see if I could get some wisdom.

I just spoke with my dr. office today and got the results of my thrombophilia panel after my loss on 11/18.

Apparently I have 3 clotting factors in my blood that are cause for concern. i.e. repeated loss

MTHFR

Protein - S

High Plasminogen

They are referring me to a perinatologist for follow up. I'm a little freaked out by this and wondering if anyone has experience with any of these??

TIA

Re: XP from TTCAL- Clotting disorders

  • I have MTHFR and Factor V leiden. I was put on Folgard (presc strength Folic acid, and vit b complex) I took baby asa while TTC and was on lovenox 40 mg daily with DD and had a successful pg. I had an early loss after her and one due to Trisomy 21, but am pg again and on lovenox, so far so good. HTH!

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

To answer your question, I am homozygous MTHFR+ and we think that's why I miscarried in April since the fetal tissue was normal. I got pregnant 3 cycles later (and I was taking Fabb Tablets and baby aspirin daily before getting pregnant) and now take those as well as 3x daily prometrium and 2x daily Lovenox injections. Crossing my fingers - so far so good!

  • I had 3 early losses before being diagnosed with a MTHFR mutation & Protein S inactivity.  I was started on additional B12, B6 & folic acid supplements along w/a baby aspirin daily.  I learned of my BFP only 2 days later, so I was already KU'd when I started this new regimen.  I can only surmise that it helped in continuing the pregnancy.  I was changed from baby aspirin to lovenox (a once-daily injectable anticoagulant) at 11 wks gestation.  So far, everything has gone very well.  Having been through losses before, I think it's instinctual to be a little worried that history will repeat itself.  Taking things day by day, celebrating each milestone & praying a lot has helped.

There is definitely hope for getting & staying PG despite clotting issues.  I am only one of many on this board that have had success.  GL w/the specialist & best wishes for a BFP very soon!
