Dry Crust around Eyebrows

Anyones LO have dry crust on the eyebrow area?  Is this cradle cap?  How are you treating?

Re: Dry Crust around Eyebrows

  • yes, DD does - and I have no clue if it is cradle cap - I put mild lotion on it but it doesn't seem to help.

  • Yup mine does and I have no clue what it is! I'm interested to see what anyone else has to say about this.

  • DD has a little and I just put a little lotion on it and it went away.  She also had some crust behind her ears and the pedi. said it was probably from soap not being washed away completely.
  • on wikipedia it said the eyebrow crust is also part of cradle cap.  You can brush it out with a small soft toothbrush, once I got DS' out it didn't come back.
  • DS had it and it was part of cradle cap. Cradle cap can be on the scalp forehead and in the eyebrows.  We did the olive oil treatment and it worked.  It took a few days but it went away.  It still comes back occasionally and I just put some lotion or vasoline on it and it goes away.
  • My little one had it and we put baby oil on it and it went away and hasnt returned.  I think it is cradle cap because it ran along her hair line also
  • I believe it is cradle cap- crusty, flaky, yellowish film. I used a drop of baby oil and massaged it with one finger until it starts to detach from the skin, it will peel out. I only did this twice but it came back. Doctor said to use hypoallergenic lotion, but not to worry, it will eventually go away.
  • DD had it, we didn`t do anything special with it and its gone away all on its own now.
  • my pedi suggested rubbing mineral oil into the scalp/forehead area before his bath and it def seemed to help the last bath he had! Smile
  • Mine had that, too.  I had no idea it was cradle cap, just thought it was dry skin but lotion didn't help.  Then, someone said it was cradle cap (I didn't think you could get it in your eyebrows) and to put olive oil (absorbs better in to the skin than commercial lotions and it's purer) on it and then rub with a dry washcloth.  I did that twice and it was gone!  But, weeks later, now she has it on her head.... time to get out the olive oil.
  • aquafor lotion....had a sample from the hospital. cleared up pretty quick
  • Okay went to pedi yesterday he called it sepperated dermatitis or something like that. He said the trick is to fill the baby bath tub with water like normal put a quarter size of head and shoulders with the blue lid into teh bath and bubble it up. then take a dime size and lather it on the baby's head and carefully rub the eyebrows - leave it for 5 min. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH BABY EYES - IT WILL BURN. he said gets rid of it in no time. Hope this helps - with this winter weather coming my poor Zachary is getting it now :(
