Moving and pregnant

So the great news is- we finally got and accepted an offer on our apartment (it is a walk-up so we had to move). I am so happy!!

However, I realize that in the next 3 months, I need to find a new place to live, pack up all my crap (with help of course), unpack all my crap and have a semi-furnished nursery all in time for these babies to show up..  And of course throw in the chance of bedrest and/or delivering early...

Gulp!

Re: Moving and pregnant

  • Yow, that's quite a bit of stress.  We moved when I was pg with the twins, but we started the process when I was 11 or 12w (listing our house, looking for a new house) and moving day was the day before I turned 17w (so before the uncomfortable stage and well before the BR stage).  GL, I'd start packing as much as you can as soon as you can (so pack up your summer clothes, anything that you wont' use in the next few months) so that you have less to pack as the time approaches.  I remember even though almost everything was packed, I was still packing misc. things on moving day for most of the day.

  • OMG!  This is wonderful news!  Congratulations!!!  Now you won't have to shlep two babies and a stroller up the stairs!!!  Hooray!

As for looking for a new place and moving, that is going to be tough, but you can do it!  Get ALL the help you can get.

  • we moved a week before the boys were born (35 wks). needless to say i didnt do much and DH and his friends did a lot. i packed like one box a day to 'help' the best i could. take it slow, i think i could have kept the boys in longer if i wasnt trying to do so much. we are still unpacking three mo later!
  • We moved across the country when I was 14w with these twins. It wasn't easy, but if you can afford it, the best thing we did was have movers come and pack EVERYTHING. I didn't even have to pack my clothes or shoes, they did every last item, You can pay them to unpack too, which in the future I will be doing for sure!

Good Luck! I lived in Manhattan for 6yrs and I know how difficult it can be to find a decent apartment, let alone while you are pregnant!....I can't imagine all the schlepping around while pg!

Hope it goes smoothly and quickly for you! Big Smile
