My BFF had an internal on Monday and as she was on the table she felt like she accidentally peed all over. When she apologized to the OB the OB said something like "Oops, you didn't just pee, I accidentally broke your water with my fingernail...that's never happened before."
My friend went on to deliver her baby yesterday (which was her Due date) after certavil and some other drug...but an OB accidentally breaking someone's water with their fingernail seems really strange to me....does this strike anyone else as completely odd?
Re: Does this seem weird to anyone else?
'Til He returns, or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I stand.
It must have been close to breaking on its own...I've never heard that!
How far along was she?
Ok, completely random, but kind of related - my dad has a decent scar on his face where the nurse took a chunk of his skin with her fingernails while he was being delivered.
It's from the corner of his eye going out, so he is lucky she didn't blind him! My grandmother checked the nails of all delivery room nurses for her following 6 births.
Was she not wearing gloves? I would think that if her nails were that long and sharp they would rip the glove too, gross.
Maybe it was on the verge of busting anyway and any touch would have broken it.
LMAO!

this! I'm sorry but keep your nails trimmed
I've heard it's possible, but rare. I believe it's one of the minor reasons why some people decline internals.
On another note, eww, her fingernail? Does that mean she cut through her glove as well? Otherwise, how sharp were those nails?
