F/U to napping poll - How to transition to crib?

LO either naps in her carseat (if she falls asleep in transit) or in our arms.  She is great with sleeping in her crib at night.  But whenever we put her in her crib for a nap she wakes up after like 15 minutes and screams.  I don't want her to get any negative associations with being in her crib because she is STTN and I do not want to do anything to jinx that! Any advice?

  • Do you put her in her crib after she's fallen asleep or when she's starting to get sleepy?

  • I have the saaaame problem. But Natalie doesn't STTN. I think I'm just going to pick a few days where I have NOTHING going on and try laying her down for a nap everytime. When she wakes up, just trying to get her to fall back asleep in her crib or rocking her until she's back asleep and laying her down again.

That is what we're going to do.  We're going to "camp out" upstairs and whenever he gets tired, put him in his crib until he becomes accustomed to napping in it, eventually.  Should be a challenge but he won't nap anywhere else besides on us, so after almost 5 months, this needs to change!

  • DS diddnt start napping in his crib until just a few weeks ago, before it was where ever i was at or in his swing. what i did was the exact same thing i do at night, i waited until he was REALLY sleepy, and then put on his music box, a binki and just left him in there. he would cry for a while, then fall asleep. It just takes time. :) GL!

After she is already asleep.  I really need to start "sleepy but awake".

  • I put him down sleepy but awake. It seems to help. If he falls asleep in his carseat the act of getting him out of it usually wakes him a bit so he knows he is going into the crib and isnt startled when he wakes up there.
