Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you have a 8-9 month old

What are you feeding LO?  DD is still eating about 5-6 6 oz. bottles a day ... and I feed her purees in the morning and when I get home from work.  If she is still hungry I give her puffs.  Should I be starting to feed her table food??  We go back to the Pedi next month, but after reading several posts I wonder if I should be feeding her more solid food and less bottles.  TIA

  • DD still nurses (or takes bottles of expressed BM) 5 times a day.  She has 3 meals a day and a couple snacks.  She is mostly on table and finger foods.  She only gets purees a few times a week.

  • I feel like I have a teenager! he has about 7-8 6-7oz bottles, puffs, crackers, food and he is still hungry at night.
  • DD gets 4 8 oz bottles a day and 3 meals.  I also give her puffs from time to time.  Usually while I am getting her meal ready if she is fussy.  She gets purees and finger food.  It usually just depends on what I am having and whether DD can have it.
  • We started making finger food about a month ago because DS started refusing purees once he tried puffs. We steam stuff and cut it up into bite sized pieces- 3 times a day after nursing/bottles. wholesomebabyfood.com is a really good resource- its got recipes and stuff and breaks things down into age groups.

  • I have the same question and I look forward to hearing other people's replies.  My DD is almost 9 months and I give her 4-5 6 oz bottles, jar of fruit in morning, fruit and veggie in afternoon, and cereal before bed.  She has also started finger feeding puffs.  I am not sure when to start introducing more table food and what kinds to start with.
  • We do 3 6oz bottles per day and 3 stage 2 containers of purees.  I give him puffs at eat meal and if we are eating with him I give him stuff off my plate.

  • DS nurses 3-5 times at home with me and has 3 bottles of EBM while I'm at work so 6-7 times total/day.  He eats a couple tablespoons of purees for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, some puffs for snacks, and maybe some table food if it's soft and stuff that he's had pureed before, like green beans, sweet potatoes, pears, bananas.  Up until they're 1 yr, their main source of nutrition is BM/formula.  I'd offer her 3 meals/day and see if she takes it.

  • She's still nursing 5 times a day and taking a 5oz. bottle at daycare. She usually has purees 2 times a day. I offer her puffs and sometimes table food, but she has pretty much no interest at all in putting food in her own mouth. She could take or leave solids-all she wants is breastmilk :P

  • He's taking 4-6oz bottles a day and eating twice. I need to bump up his solids to 3x a day very soon

  • We do three 8-oz bottles throughout the day, and one 6-oz bottle before bed. She gets a stage two fruit in the morning, and a stage two veggie at night with puffs/melts/pieces of fruit that I mash up for her.

  • DD is taking (4) 6 oz bottles per day.  She just dropped the 5th bottle about 2 weeks ago.  She eats yogurt or stage 2 jar plus a handfull of puffs, yogurt melts or cheerios for breakfast.  For lunch she has a stage 2 jar and a handfull of puffs, yogurt melts or cheerios.  For dinner I am trying to get her to eat more finger foods.  If what we are eating is appropriate I dice it very small and give it to her.  If not, I fix her diced veggies, cheese, diced chicken, etc. and maybe 1/2 jar of baby food if I think she is still hungry.  She also gets a sippy of water to drink throughout the day.
  • My DD is formula fed and she's supposed to hvae 20-24 oz of formula at least a day. Then food on top of that. We just had our 9 mo appt. and the dr. said from here on out she can eat just abou tanything except for the allergy foods...ie honey, pb, unpaturzied cheeses. So go ahead, if babe is hungry, feed@!!
