MOMs - getting ready question

so my DH is driving me nuts about getting the "stuff" ready.  We just had the shower not this past weekend but the weekend before, so I have a lot of washing to do putting away etc. This has been my first week off and I actually ended up in the hospital with that vomiting bug that went around - had to have IV fluids and terb to stop the mini contrax the dehydration was causing - though in my head I was not planning on doing any of it this week anyway ; )

When did you start the washing, putting away etc..... I feel a little like I am jinxing things if I do it now, but I don't know when I am going to get over that - I am a day away from 30 weeks, I should be over that stage right now, but I know that anything can happen at anytime.

Re: MOMs - getting ready question

  • I did it all right after my shower for DD, so about 26 weeks or so?  It wasn't something I wanted to be surprised with.  This time around I'll be more lax, mostly because I'm a bit more confident in myself.  I'll still have the carseats ready to go, though.

  • I didn't have my showers yet, but I've washed and organized everything I've bought on my own so far and plan on doing the same for anything more received.

I always figure one more thing I do now is one less thing I have to do later...

  • i would wash a few things now - bedding, and a few outfits- but do not wash all the clothing- there's a huge chance you won't ues 1/2 of it- and you can never return (or regift) any of it if it's been washed :)
  • i'd start now, get the bedding, towels and stuff washed.  I actually returned a ton of yellow/beige clothes.  then I washed everything.

    have fun!

  • i waited and ended up giving birth!  my mom had to come and wash stuff (like the bassinet sheets) while i was in the hospital.

  • My mom did it while I was in the hospital after they were born. I didn't want anything washed until we knew their weights.

  • Hey there eileen!

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to say hi and that I'm glad you're doing well.  I updated the link in my siggy for my blog (I think you might have been the one to tell me the old link was broken.)

Good luck to my due date buddy!!! :)

What she said. My babies were in newborn clothes for two weeks before transitioning to 0-3. We have tons of unworn clothes.

  • I started right after my shower - 30 weeks.  I went on modified bedrest at week 32 and full bedrest at week 36 so I was glad I got it done early.   Even if I wasn't on modified bedrest, I am sure I would not have been up to it.  I was so tired that it would have been hard to do at the end.

  • I think you can wash bedding & a few clothes (like PP said, don't wash everything because they might not even need it all).  I was waiting because everything appeared to be going very well with my pregnancy, but I unexpectedly had an emergency C-section at 31.3 weeks because they discovered I had preeclampsia.  My husband ended up having to wash everything while I was at the hospital 1.5 hours away with our babies in the NICU, and I was really sad about not getting to do that "nesting" stuff.  I even cried!
  • I just did everything over the past week. I have been feeling sosososo lazy that I just couldnt get to it! I finally realized that I dont have ver much time left so I finally got off my butt!!!
