Will she be taking it in and out, or will it stay installed in her car? If it will remain in the car, I'd get a cosco scenera ($40ish at Walmart and Kmart). However, they're a PITA to install, so I wouldn't get one if it will be taken out a lot.
what careseat did you get for secondary/daycare use? DS is in her car once a day, for 15 mins while she picks up her child from school...
Same for DD...less than 10 minutes in DH's car. However, I think we are going to invest in a second good carseat because anything can happen in 10 minutes.

The cheap seats are just as safe, provided they are being used correctly. Britax seats are no safer than any other seat, even the $40 ones. The most important part is that they're installed correctly and used correctly. That is why a scenera could be an issue--the more it's moved, the more chance you have for a bad install, which would be less safe. If the sitter will be installing it herself frequently, a britax seat would be a good bet because they're easy to install correctly. If it will never be moved, I would personally not spend a lot on that extra seat.

We bought the Scenera for our sitter's car. Same situation, in the car only to drop off and pick up her son from school. Was a bit of a pain to install but she keeps it installed at all times so that wasn't really an issue.

I agree. However, DH's will be removed more frequently and I don't want to have to worry as much that it is installed correctly each time. I also suspect that many daycare providers will remove the seats from time to time and I would not feel comfortable that it was properly installed. I was not as clear in my original post, but I think that it is worth the extra money to have a better chance of proper installation.
Now, if the daycare NEVER removed it and I had an inspection report from a certified car seat inspector saying it was installed correctly, then yes, I would go cheaper. In our case, it will be removed probably once a week when he has to take clients out so we are going with ease of proper installation which does cost more money in most cases.
I'd probably go with a britax marathon, then. You can usually find them for around $175. You need to learn to install it yourself, though, and then you need to teach the daycare provider(s)
