it does get easier

people are right.  My twins are 4 months old (2 months adjusted) and I can honestly say the past week or so things are getting eaiser.  They usually now only wake up once a night (one even has STTN 2x this weekend).  So it makes for a well rested mama!  They also seem more "trained" about understanding the other one is also there when it comes to things like changing their diapers, burps and feedings.

For instance tonight I was alone putting them to bed.  I started their bedtime ritual around 6:30pm and they were cleaned up, changed, music, bottle and rocked (they got hungry quick so no book)all by 7:45pm.  This by far was the easiest time I've had with them at night by myself.  And they both actually took their whole bottle!

I know I don't post here often but I've lurked quite a bit and received great pointers.  Thanks!

  • I hope you're right!  We are so exhausted and hope they drop one night feeding soon!  I'm glad you're getting more sleep and having success putting them down for the night by yourself.  Congrats!

  • i agree, we are about 4.5 months right now and its much easier.  we're lucky, we have great sleepers (sttn since 12 weeks) but now they nap better, too, and they are starting to entertain themselves.  they are also getting really good at self-soothing (they suck their fingers)

i wouldnt return to the first 3 months if you paid me!

  • I never felt so exhausted before in my life.  I wanted to punch everyone that said it'll get better.  I couldn't see it.
  • Thanks for the encouragement!!  Our little ones will be here in January.  We just have to remember what you're saying!!
  • This is just coming from my experience with one, but I too wanted to punch everyone that said it would get easier.  My baby had lots of food intolorances and reflux as a newborn (he reacted through my breastmilk.) You just can't see it when you are going through it.  It's one of those things you just have to go through and come out on the other side.  When you look back, you will think it wasn't that long that you weren't sleeping and miserable, but when you are going through it, it feels like an eternity.

Now that I know it will be easier eventually, I'm hoping that will be able to give my self pep talks in the middle of the night!

  • 6 months in and we're getting there.
