Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I have a confession...

I REALLY wish I would've looked into cloth diapering before Bella was born.  They're so cute and I really hate having to pack her up and hit the store for diapers every other day (or at least thats what it feels like).  If I could come up with the money now, I'd start...but it seems like getting started is so expensive. :(

Re: I have a confession...

  • I must confess that I buy smaller packages of diaper instead of the boxes... just so I have a good excuse to get out of the house regularlly! Stick out tongue

But yeah, CD's are so cute.

LoL!  I'd rather stay in the house lately...its such a pain to pack up Bella and get her all bundled up and whatnot just to get diapers.

  • You still have at least another year of diapers and still have time :)

I love CD it only takes 15 mins every other day or maybe even every 3 days to do laundry depending on what your start up is. :)

and she hasnt had any diaper rashes since :)

  • I've thought the same thing. But then again, I really don't want to deal with everything that goes with cloth diapers either.

What do you *think* goes in to cloth diapering?

I throw them in the wash... I dry them.

    I put them away..

I want to soooo bad.  My mom has been asking what I want for Christmas and I might drop a few hints...She was asking what I want, but that counts, right? lol

Ditto!  We had to use disp last week when traveling and we missed our cloth a lot. I don't trust disposables...too many leaks.

    totally counts!!!

I get all my diapers from bebeology.com

if you purchase 12+ diapers you get 20percent off.. this was the cheapest ive found.

we have 24 maybe 26 bumgenius 3.0s and 12 indian unbleached prefolds and 4 thirsties duo covers....

I prefer the thirsties and prefolds.. they are trimmer

but the BG are less intimidating for babysitters, dads :) and family memebers

jillians drawers has a great trial pack.. you just have to leave a deposit and you get most of it back minus i think 10 or 20 dollars

  • Do it!!!  Get them as gifts & you haven't lost anything!!!!

I'll have to check the site out!  I want to start really bad but I just don't know if we can swing the start up money right now.  I guess I'll be dropping hints to my mom over the next week. :P

I've been looking stuff up on google about how to get started and from what I've read so far, I like the idea of the inserts, but to be honest, I have a stupid question...

How many inserts would you need vs diapers?  I've read that sometimes doubling the inserts is good, but with the inserts, do you just change the inserts or the whole diaper? (I would think the whole diaper, but I might be wrong)...

Also, do you have to use a certain kind of detergent?  I think I remember reading that there's a specific kind you have to use on them, but I'm not sure if that's for all or what...

  • :( I replied to this but it didnt post.. sorry

Yes just change the inserts/prefolds and wipe down the cover.... some covers like soakers will need to be changed everytime...

I usually only change her cover if she poops or if i just feel like it.. I use 2-4 covers a day... 4 is on a HIGH day

For detergent I used the recipe on the EFF board :)
