2nd Trimester

sharp pain and horrible back pain

So yesterday I had horrible back pain at night (only on right side). After a nights sleep I woke up and it was much better .... throughout the day it was ok and started to get much worse towards the end of the day. To add too it I have a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen, its not like RLP and its been there almost all day. If im still its fine but if I move or breathe deep it hurts.

Anyone have any of the above and know how to make it feel better??? Tylenol is not touching it and the heating bad helps the back a little but no the ab pain. To add to it LO is sitting low today and kicking my bladder every 5 sec.!!!!!

I love being pg but today is a real test. : )

Re: sharp pain and horrible back pain

  • It may be sciatica pain. I have a massaging heating pad that I use and has helped a bunch!

  • Sciatica is not in your back.  Its probably your posture, and the abdomen pain sounds like rlp...you may just be experiencing a different "form" of it.  Mine has gotten progressively worse lately

  • Have you had any spotting or anything?  I'm on bed rest due to my placenta and amniotic sack separating, with a pocket of blood between them.  I woke up one morning with my back KILLING me and pain on my lower abdomen on the sides, and I was bleeding (it was always brown).

I bled for like 5 days, but I'm still having pains, and it almost seems like my pain is worse (sharp pains in lower abdomen). I have another u/s tomorrow to see if it's gotten better or what, and to revisit my bed rest situation.  Today I turned over in bed and it felt like there was a knife in my abdomen, it hurt SO BAD and I was in bed crying.

Take it easy and keep your feet up when you can, and talk to your doctor about it.

  • I actually had very similar pain this weekend!  Tylenol didn't help me either.  I took a warm bath and laid on a heating pad a lot.  It took a few days, but the pain has gone away for me.  GL.
  • My Back and  new form of RLP have been getting worse lately.  Its actually made me quite paranoid.  But anyway, I started taking baths this week...its helped a lot.
