Let me preface this by saying I am not a B*tch....
I decided I wanted a Juicy Couture diaper bag (I know it is a lot of money, but I really want it, and I figure why not, it is my first child etc..) Anyway a few weeks back I was telling a bunch of my co-workers about the bag, and they brought up how they would all buy me this bag for my shower....(How sweet right?)
Well today one of them came up to me and asked if I could send her a picture of the juicy bag I want...I told her I would try and go online and find a pic but if I could not, she could just go into the Juicy store and ask to see my wishlist (which is under my name) and they will get the bag for them. (Juicy makes wishlists at their stores if you want to make it easy for people)..Anyway...the co- worker says to me, No, I want you to send me the pic so I can see if I can get it for cheaper on Ebay or something......
Ummmm....No...(this is where I am going to remind you, I am not a b*tch) I do not want the bag from Ebay...There is no proof it will be a real juicy bag, and I want the real thing..I want the one from Nordstroms or Juicy.....
So I did not say anything, I just said, okay I will look for a pic and get it to you...
What do I do? I want a real one lol!! DH will buy it for me so that is not the issue, but how do I tell my co-workers that? Should I just tell them DH bought it for me for Christmas? I honestly do not mind them getting it for me, IF they get it at Nordstrom or Juicy, but how do I say that nicely..
SInce you just read my novel, here is the imfamous bag I am referring too...Isn't it soooo cute!! I would get it in black...
Re: Moral Dilemma- Need Advice..
Love ya Melissa...but you're kind of being a turd on this one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Ebay didn't allow anyone to sell knock-offs?
There really isn't a tactful way of going about this without looking like a biznatch. Sorry I don't have much advice other than to just let them do what they want to do. I doubt they're going to to try to buy you a knock-off.
The bag is cute though
Ebay may SAY that you can't, but there is no way for them to really enfore it or prove if its real or not. So you could think you're getting the real thing, but end up with something completely fake.
I personally (usually) don't care if something is fake or not, but I wouldn't ever tell someone that I'm going to look for their gift on ebay to see if I can get it cheaper. If it really bothers you, I would tell them that DH surprised you with it or something!
I would just tell them that DH saw you printing off a photo and spilled the beans that he got it for you for x-mas. Then DH will obviously have to buy it for you, but I think that is the only way to do it without pissing people off.
Related note (kinda): I saw a girl with a Juicy Corture diaper bag on Saturday night at a restaurant and she had a ridiculously cheap looking carseat. Like fall apart cheap. Priorities people. Safety-smaftey.

Yeah..
I'm in the tacky to buy off ebay camp. There's so much fake stuff running around there I'd never purchase anything even remotely designer'ish' off there. If it makes me a b!tch? ahh well, I am willing to embrace that.
The way I see it you have two choices. Either a) tell them dh bought it for you as the girls suggest.
Or b) let a co worker you are close to know your thoughts about them getting ripped off on a fake. If you play a concern for any defects or a fake they'll either get you the one you're wanting or move on to another item on your wish list. Let's face it, if your bag goes to crap or rips in the lining you have a great customer service with Nordies- that alone is reason enough to stay with them!
Yeah, sounds like DH is buying you a diaper bag! It's soooo cute! It's kind of tacky that your co-workers told you that. But, at least they told you 1st so you can stop the process. I agree with PP that the only way to do it is to say that DH is getting it.
On a side note, I bought a Prada bag on Ebay a couple years ago. Guaranteed authentic, yada, yada, yada. Long story short, handle broke after a few weeks. Seller insisted it was real, & told me to take it to an authorized retailer. I took it to Neiman Marcus, they sent it to Prada. Prada sent it back stating that it was a fake. Mortifying.
If they don't want to pay for it, maybe they could just get you a giftcard towards what they are willing to pay.
I would be telling them that DH already bought it for me. Save yourself the trouble of giving them an explanation.
