3rd Trimester

*TXTwister and Shorty*

So, you are my sarcastic voices of reason and can make me laugh when I am feeling down.  I go to the doctor in about a half hour, and just weighed myself, and gained two pounds since this morning.  WTF?!  In the past six weeks I've gained 12 pounds.  What?  12 pounds?  Is this normal?  My total is embarrassing.

Re: *TXTwister and Shorty*

  • Sooo...I'm snoopig, because I'm neither of those people lol. But 12lbs in 6 weeks isn't unheard of. I've ready many places that its typical to gain 1-2lbs a week towards the end, partly because LO can gain upwards of a 1/2lb a week on their own! Hope that helps! I hate getting on the scale too, at my next doc appt, I'm going to ask them just to write it down so I don't have to hear it! lol

  • Maybe you need to poop. Try that. I bet you'll be two pounds lighter.
  • Tardy to the party here but pp's are right.  It's probably water weight or you just need to take a big 'ol crapola :)
  • Oh my gosh, I try to eat so healthy.  Of course I have a treat once in a while (I slipped up and ate an entire bag of bagel chips a few weeks ago) but honestly, once in a while is maybe every two weeks or more.  I drink at least 80 ounces of water a day (already there today, plus a glass of juice and a can of seltzer water) and pee 3405984 times a day.  My appointments have always been in the evening, which don't help but at least I know the weigh-in time is consistent.  I don't know why this is so hard for me, I think it's just pressure from other people. "Oh, I only gained __ when I was pregnant" and "Oh, you'll be right back to your normal size within a month" and "If I know my girl, I know you won't let yourself gain too much".  Well, I'm doing what I can and still gaining the weight!!!!  I don't want to put my LO in danger from gaining too much or not enough, but I seriously want to cry right now Sad

LOL I actually did already!  Two days in a row.  Completely unheard of for me before pregnancy, even more of a phenomenon now!  I take 2 Colace in the am and 2 in the pm to help this process though.  No change in weight...

Try not to worry so much about what other people say.  Everyone gains weight differently and what's normal for them may not be normal for you.  Chances are your body knows best, and I'd trust it before I'd trust anyone else.  It all comes down to what your doctor says, though.  If s/he is not worried, then you shouldn't be either.  People think that when you become pregnant that it automatically gives them a PhD and the right to tell you what to do with your body.  Fvck them, they're not your OB.
