Did any of you ladies have Pre-e

So I was having problems w/ my BP. I was told I have PIH. After my 24 urine results should I have lots of protein in my urine. So I now have Pre-e. I have an appt. tom. morning w/ my doc. Does this mean I'll have to be induced? What did they do w/ you? I wish I knew now what they want to do. I've been on bed rest since sunday. Thanks for the help.

Re: Did any of you ladies have Pre-e

  • I had pre-e.  I was diagnosed at 27 weeks and spent 2 weeks in the hosp on br and then another 7 weeks on strict br at home.  While at home I had bi-weekly appts with the hr dr. for bio-physical profiles for Lilly.  I was induced at 36 weeks since my bp was starting to rise out of control.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Sorry you have pre-e - it sucks!

I'm just scared. Up until this point I had an uneventful pregnancy. It was just flying by. I just wish I knew already what my OB's plan was for me. My friend had this and she was induced. I just want my baby to be healthy! Thank god I'm almost full term in case anything would happen.

  •   I had the massive swelling starting at 27 weeks, but had no other signs until my 39-week checkup, when my BP spiked and I had a headache.  They induced me, but I was only 4 days away from my EDD.  I was on beta blockers for about 4 weeks after having the baby, but my BP is fine now.  I had a complication-free pregnancy until then.  Good luck!
  • It is a scary thing - it's the unknown!  As long as your proteins stay under 3,000 and your bp stays relatively under control I think you will be fine!  I was able to try for a vaginal birth - however after 28 hours of labor she was just not budging so I ended up with a c/s.  Be prepared for lingering high bp.  I was not and now am on bp meds.  Make sure to keep track pp.

  • Also, my BP was so high after delivery that I had to be on IV magnesium for 24 hours.  That stuff sucked, but it was better than having a seizure, I guess.  If your BP is high, they may need to run Mag in your IV during labor as well.
  • Oh yes the mag - I didn't have to be on it.  I have heard it sucks!  nmr79 - I am near you in St. Charles :)

  • I was diagnosed with pre-e at 37 weeks, and at my second check for protein and BP with continued elevated levels, I was induced that day since I was full term.

I was put on mag sulfate and it totally sucks. It's a smooth muscle relaxer, so usually you have to be put on pitocin too.

Good thing is that not long after I had my daughter my swelling decreased and my BP returned back to normal.

  • I was diagnosed at my 38 week appointment.  I didn't have any of the symptoms except for really high levels of protein.  They made me go to L&D to run more tests.  My platelet level was really low and they said something about my liver enzymes shutting down.  I had to deliver via c-section immediately and was put on magnesium.  They said my case was sudden and extreme.... However, our LO was absolutely perfect and I recovered completely within days.  I know it is a scary thing but it sounds like you are in good hands.  Good luck and I wish you all the best!
