What was your DC's reaction to the Christmas tree?

He said "Oooooooo! Liiiiights!", stared at it for a long time, and then walked away from it.?
He never touched the gifts underneath (I was very surprised) or the ornaments (he touched one, but never ripped it off the tree).?

How about your DC?

Re: What was your DC's reaction to the Christmas tree?

  • He "hits" the branches, tries to steal ornaments and I have had to take away my cute little tree skirt. He is so on the naughty list this year!

  • Its like its not even in the room! He has no interest in it what so ever! We don't have any gifts under it so I don't know how he would do with that but we aren't going to chance it!
  • DD was VERY interested in the lights the first day. The second and third days, she would rip a couple of the ornaments off the tree. It was a set of three that would always come off. Now, she ignores the tree completely, including the presents under the tree. We totally lucked out!

  • Every single day when he gets home from daycare he walks over to it and goes "Woooooow!" and touches all the ornaments on his level.  He doesnt try to rip them off and is gentle with it.  I was pleasantly surprised!

  • She loves it. "Lights pretty." "Twee pretty." She rips the balls off constantly. I hear her whisper "uh oh" then she runs up to me and I say "Ainsley, we do not take the ornaments off the tree!" She responds with, "Yeah I know!!" and a big old smile. Rinse and repeat.

  • how in the world did i get the only tree wrecker on the nest?

she grabbed ornaments and yanked it down (breaking the stand) in less than 5 minutes.

  • The frist few days DD was taking the ornaments off and saying "ball." We don't have any gifts under it yet though. However, we were at my parents over the weekend and they had gifts under theirs and she never touched them.

  • She's totally NI. Doesn't even pay attention to it.

  • He went "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!" and does it again every time I turn the lights on.  He also tries to "examine" the ornaments on the bottom so I have to either watch him closely or redirect him to a plastic one.  We block it with the ottoman if we can't sit right there with him.

  • DD is still in awe of it and mostly stares and points.  She says "pre-ee tee" and "wow" often.  We do a tree lighting countdown every night when we get home from work.  So fun.

ETA: She hasn't tried to pull any ornaments off yet.

  • He really likes the lights!  Whats me to turn them on all the time, gets mad when it's time to turn them off.  He is good about not touching it.  He just likes to point at it and say tree!

  • He kept saying, "WOWWWW.  LOOK!!!  LOOK!!" while pointing at the tree.  And then he would run from room to room and try to steal the ornaments, laughing as he did so. :)

This just seriously made me LOL!?

  • We just put it up, so we'll see.  But she loved decorating it and actually helped.  She couldn't really hang the ornaments, but she showed me where she wanted each ornament and I hung them for her.  Consequently, there is a patch of tree at the bottom which is heavily concentrated with ornaments. lol

I don't know if we'll be able to keep her from touching the tree, though.

  • DS was laready into trees from going outside alot, but when he saw the tree inside he did look at me funny as if to say " it doesn't belong in the house Mommy." now he has to go over ot it at least once a day.

  • DD is mildly interested.  We hung some kid-friendly ornaments on the bottom, so she will point to them and say what they are.  The other day she managed to get a death grip on one of the glass ball ornaments, and my mom and DH nearly had heart attacks trying to get her to let it go.  Other than that, she's been very gentle with it.

It makes me laugh too :)

She's so excited I can't get too upset. I've given up on hanging them again. I figure she'll run out sooner or later.

  • He signed, "lights", poked around then checked out his reflection in one of the eye level shiny silver ornaments.

  • DS loves it! Every morning he takes me in to turn the lights on. He'll say 'Oooooooo'. he has a few ornaments on bottom he likes to take off but he is a very gentle kid, so he's great with it! I think he'll be upset when it's time to put away.
  • She loves to look and gently touch at the ornaments near the bottom.  She leaves the branches and tree skirt alone.  I think she is more fascinated by the stockings.

  • The 1st week she wouldn't leave it alone. We have this ribbon garland that she'd grab & start to run w/ it. She'd take the ornaments & candy canes off & I'd find them laying on the living room floor. Now, meh, she could care less about it. I haven't put presents down yet. I'm going to wait till at least Christmas Eve for that.

  • When we get home the first thing we have to do is turn the lights on on the downstairs tree.  then she oohs and aahs over it and touches the ornaments and branches and lights.  we had a couple of instances in the first week of yanking ornaments, but we have "gentle touches" down now.  and then we repeat with the upstairs tree.  she loves it.  and hasn't bothered the presents.
  • He just stared at it and said "Ohhhhhh WOW!"
    .
  • she could care less.

The wreath on the basement door however, is a constant source of amazement and interest.  She whines and cries underneath it until somebody picks her up so she can touch it.

  • DD couldn't care less about the tree at our house (it doesn't have anything other than lights, though).  She's completely enamored with the Christmas tree in the hospital lobby, though.

It's huge (it's 3 stories high), and covered in red, gold, and red and gold balls and bells, doves, and red and gold bows.  DD thinks all the balls are apples, and wants to pick them  LOL.

  • We put our tree up on Sunday, and had no problems Sunday afternoon or Monday. He would just point at it and say, "Gee!" (tree). This morning he started touching the ornaments and right after lunch he tried to pull one off (we have them secured so they won't come off). I'm hoping he'll get his full after a couple of days and will leave it alone once the novelty wears off.

  • Ours is in the front room w/ a gate between our living room/kitchen and where the tree is.  She points to it and says "Mommy!" all night.  And if we see them out and about town, she does the same thing.
  • DS runs over to the tree every night when it gets lit up (it's on a timer).  And he goes "whooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa" and "ball!".  He likes to hit the branches and grab at the ornaments, but he is actually pretty gentle.

What he LOVES is the plastic candles that we have in the windows.  2 of them are in room with the tree and he likes to grab them and walk around with them.

I just put presents under the tree this morning so we will see how he handles those tonight!
