My first OB appt will be around 8 weeks pg. They said That all im doing is meeting with a nurse to go over a lot of paperwork and questions, the basics and they will send me to the lab for some tests. Also Then they will schedule a future ultrasound. I was thinking ill just let DH work and not try to get off. Seems silly for him to come if nothing big is happening.
What do you think? Did you take DH?

If he doesn't go, make sure you get all of his family history. My first pregnancy (which ended in m/c) DH came and it was great because although I knew most, I didn't know all of his family stuff. My second pregnancy I thought we'd be doing all the boring paperwork/family history stuff again so he didn't go, BUT my OB wanted to date the pregnancy so he ended up doing an internal u/s. DH was disappointed, even though he knew the u/s wasn't planned. Maybe leave it up to your DH to decide if he wants to go?
GL!!! Everything will be fine... tell me about it when you get back!

DH came to my 1st appointment. There was really nothing very complicated about his family's health history, but I probably would have felt like I was missing something if he hadn't been there. While DH was obviously bored and felt kind of awkward and useless, it did make the pregnancy more real to him and he felt good about doing his fatherly duty. I was glad he came because I didn't know what to expect, and it was nice having him there waiting with me because I was pretty nervous. He will be coming to the next appointment because we have an u/s scheduled, but will probably only go to u/s appointments after that.
In short: definitely not necessary for him to go, but if it would make you feel supported and if he's willing, go for it!
