I ordered some Christmas items via an online company with some coupon codes that I had.  The customer service rep allowed me to use more than 1 code per order so my out of pocket was very minimal.  I received an email a couple of days later stating that the orders were being cancelled for using more than 1 gift code.  I called customer service and talked to them and told them that if they were going to charge me full price that I was fine with the orders being cancelled.  Fast forward 1 week, I come home and find packages waiting for me.  The orders were shipped to me.  I called customer service last week (Tuesday) and they said someone would call me back.  My credit card was not charged and the customer service rep told me they no longer have my information as the orders on their end were cancelled.  I told her that I wasn't going to open the boxes until I knew what was going on.  It has been 1 week and I still haven't heard back from them.  I called again today and the customer service rep took my information down again to give to the women that I need to talk to to clear this up.  Again, she told me that they didn't have any credit card information as the orders were cancelled.  I called my credit card company and they have no pending charges. 

 What would you do in this case?  As I said, they are Christmas presents.  Some for family that we are seeing this weekend.  No one can tell me why the orders still shipped and I am being assured that my credit card was not charged and cannot be charged because they purged the information when the orders got cancelled.  I've tried for 1 week to get a hold of the company and the representative that I need to speak with is not returning my calls/emails.  What do I do now?

  • I'm a bad person.  I'd keep them.  You've done your due diligence and tried (repeatedly) to do the right thing.  Clearly, nobody at the company is willing to help.  So I'd give up and keep them.  Of course, if they ever figured it out, I'd be fine with them charging me--I'd just take the gamble.
