3rd Trimester

How are you planning on losing the baby weight?

Anyone have any plans for an excersize routine/diet once the baby comes?

Right now I'm super motivated to want to lose the weight once LO arrives. I've NEVER been a runner, but DH was a track and XC stud so I really want him to teach me. Living in Colorado with the snow, cold and ice I'm scared my motivation won't be nearly as high as it is now. I also have Jillian's 30 Day Shred which I heard kicks your butt. We'll see how it goes!

Re: How are you planning on losing the baby weight?

  • breastfeeding? Other than that, I have no plan. Try not to pig out too much.  I haven't gained a ton of weight this time so I'm hoping to lose it easily. We'll see!!

  • breastfeeding! and also walking a ton with the baby in the stroller

  • Weight Watchers and working out.  Works every time I need to lose some weight!
  • Breastfeeding and walking.

We have a nice jogging stroller that came with a car seat. So I plan on putting the little guy in there and literally walking my butt off after he arrives.

Plus I'm in my brother's wedding in May, I want to lose as much as possible before then.

  • I'm hoping BFing works.

But DH and I have a workout plan, too. Both sets of parents live within 10 minutes of each other and us, so at least twice a week we're planning to take LO for some grandparent time and go workout for an hour. We'll do this as soon as I'm cleared for exercise. It will be good for us physically and I think it will be nice for us to get some time in together, even if it's just a few hours a week.

  • My plan includes breast-feeding, walking with the baby, and the 30 day shred (only I modify it, because I'm a woos).
  • I am planning on working out 5 days a week! We will see how it goes :)

  • I'll be breastfeeding as well, probably walk with baby in stroller, and I'll do the 30 Day Shred. I did it before our wedding and my arms and abs were bangin! :) I haven't gained a ton of weight either, so I'm *hoping* it comes off easy.

  • I would love to be able to take daily walks, but it's going to be freezing here in February!  I am hoping that BFing does that trick, but I do plan to do the 30DS and maybe some yoga once I am able to start exercising again.
  • I am still working out 3-4 days a week and the trainers (and other resources) keep reassuring me that by keeping up my workouts now will make losing the baby weight "a snap."  I also have not gained much, so I'm hoping that will help, too.

Once LO arrives, I plan to BF. I will walk with the baby anytime I can (indoors since its so cold here in the winter) and "work out" with the baby in the house once I'm cleared.   I do want to get back in the gym  when I can manage it, too.  I'm my sisters Matron of Honor in the middle of July so I will adjust my plan as needed to be sure I'm back to awesome for the wedding!

  • Breastfeeding. Treadmill until the spring, and then my jogging stroller. Hopefully it works, I want to be able to run the 15k by the end of the summer. We shall see..
  • BFing, Sparkpeople.com (it's like free Weight Watchers) and exercising.  Is the 30 Day Shred a video or something?  I've never heard of it, but I'm interested... :)
  • I counted on breastfeeding last time and only lost half the pregnancy weight.  I wish we lived somewhere warmer so we could get out for walks - maybe towards the end of my maternity leave or, if I feel like a bit of a drive, we could walk around the Mall of America.

Otherwise, I plan starting the 30 Day Shred again.  I'd been doing it for 2-3 weeks when I found out I was pg and it was too rigorous for me to keep going (I was pretty out of shape).  I also have a Wii Fit that I might pull out and actually use, if I need to ease into the 30DS (it really does kick your butt).

  • I'm planning to try to do cardio for an hour at least 4 times a week and walk with LO while I'm on maternity leave.  I'm also hoping that breastfeeding and eating sensibly will help.  OP, since you live in CO, what about skiing?  Cross country skiing in particular is a great way to burn calories.  Although, it might be tough to find the time with a LO.
  • I'm planning a 1/2 marathon in April, so hopefully the training for that will work some wonders.  Also plan on BFing.

As a side note, a friend of mine told me, that in order to maximize weight loss through BFing, you need a diet full of protein!  :o)

  • Breastfeeding, Weight Watchers & Treadmill Time!
  • Breastfeeding + nutrisystem + walking on the treadmill.  I will be supllementing the nutrisystem, but it worked fantastic before my wedding, so I will jump right back into it again ASAP.

Yes, it's a video - Jillian from Biggest Loser is the trainer. It's supposed to really kick your butt.

  • I'm still working out 3-4 times a week which I'm hoping to continue until delivery.

I plan on bfing, which hopefully will help shed some lbs. And doing the 30d shred. Once spring arrives, I'll be back outside running

  • BF, using my glider (not the sitting kind, the walking kind) and maybe turbo jam or taebo something like that.

Thanks.  I'm assuming you should do it every day?  Can you start as soon as you feel up to it, or wait for clearance from your doc?  Do I need anything (free weights, ball, mat, etc...) to go along with it?

Hahha why don't I just google it?!

  • Besides BFing which is supposed to help, I plan on taking advantage of the full gym we have available at our appartment complex, and taking lots of walks with LO.  In the year before getting pregnant I had managed to loose 50 pounds by working out 5 days a week for about an hour a day.  This will hopefully be what works for me after baby gets here as well, and I shouldn't have nearly as much weight to loose (I have gained 40 pounds so far during my pregnancy and imagine I will have to work off about half of that).

  • Breastfeeding. A friend of ours has a degree in personal training and he his going to put together a plan for me. I am also going to to that P90X. My BF does it and she said its awesome. I have really good motivation. In 6 months we are taking a trip to Florida.

  • I used to run a lot before I got pg.  So DH has volunteered to take care of the baby so I can go running.  Plus I have to make the $389 Bob jogging stroller I'm planning to buy to some use.  Hee hee.  Just not looking forward to getting back into the swing of running in the Texas heat.  Uggghhhh...
  • For the first 3 months I plan to breastfeed, eat healthy and walk like 2 hours a day outside (I live in AZ). I don't want to start any type of diet/fitness regimen until I see how my body bounces back on its own. After that, I heard Weight Watchers has a program for BFers, and I also have some Nutrisystem left over from before I was pregnant (I have found that its a good way to lose those pesky last ten pounds). I have never heard of this 30 day shred business, but I will have to check it out since rejoining a gym (just lost my job) is out of the question.

  • I plan to BF, eat healthily and exercise as soon as I'm cleared. If I need more after that I will do weight watchers.
  • We bought ourselves a treadmill for Christmas, so this is a big part of my plan.  Also, I plan on breastfeeding so hopefully that will help.  I'm also planning on working on my Wii Fit.

  • I def. plan on BF'ing- also using the elliptical 4-5 times a week/with pilates every 1-2 times a week. Last time I did all of this and lost all the weight in 2 months so I thinkif I just stay healthy and workout till the end it shouldn't be a problem!
  • I'm going to start with breastfeeding and walking. After my milk supply is established and I'm feeling up to it, I'll start Weight Watchers again and working out (with Jillian Michaels. I have the 30d shred and her other two videos).
  • I didn't have any problems losing weight after my first 2.  I didn't gain much...maybe 20-25lb.  I am a runner 5-6 miles 4x/wk.  I run because it maximizes calories burnt in the time I have to work out in a given day.  Usually only 45-60min.  I also nursed both my kids for a year and usually fall about 5lb under my normal prepreg weight when nursing from 6-12mo.  I can literally eat anything I want when I'm nursing and not gain weight.  It is a huge advantage!!
    DD(7), DS(4.5), DS(2.5), DS(baby)
  • I got a book from the library of exercises you can do with your baby.  That was helpful until it was warm enough to get outside and walk/run.

My biggest plan is to cut out the junk food!

I love Sparkpeople!  I used it a couple of years ago to lose 70 lbs.

  • I lost over 80 pounds with Weight Watchers about 5 years ago.  I plan on going back on their plan (there is a modified version for BFing mothers) since it suited me well and I still have all of the guides.

Kudos to you for trying running.  I hate running, but I LOVE walking!
