"Santa" question

As I started wrapping the kids presents yesterday I came to the realization that Santa screws us parents over. I was trying to figure out what presents were from "Santa" and which were from us and of course the ones from us are the "boring" presents, such as clothes, crayons etc.  Because afterall Santa doesn't bring those types of presents, he brings the "fun" presents.  This just makes Santa look waaaay better than mommy and daddy because Santa brings bigger & better.

Anyways (sorry got a little off track there), my original question that I wanted to ask is...how many presents are from Santa and how many are from mommy and daddy?

Re: "Santa" question

  • At my DH's insistence, all presents from us are from Santa. He swears he never thought his parents were mean for not getting him Christmas presents.

If I had my way, only one big present and the stocking would be from Santa.

  • I did 3 or 4 "little presents" from us and 6 presents (including the big ones) are from santa
  • LOL!  I see what you're saying.

I'm still trying to decide.  Santa has brought everything in the past.  Even the boring ole socks in the stocking!  Ha ha ha.

I'm starting to feel like we're getting the shaft, though.  All that work.  The shopping, the trudging all over town, the wrapping...and then Santa gets all the credit.  Wink

  • None from Santa. See post below.

  • i haven't really thought about it...all of the boys' presents this year are boring (blankets, new bath towels, stuff like that) but they have no idea who santa is yet, so i'll worry next year... :)

growing up, i thought it was SO COOL that santa had the same handwriting as my mom AND dad. so neat!!! Stick out tongue

  • All of our presents are from "Santa". When she is older I will make sure she knows who "santa" really was!

I think I'm gonna write a letter and stick it in her baby book... lol

  • As a child, I don't remember thinking "man, this Santa guy is SO much better than my parents, they suck!" I just remember being so wrapped up in everything & excited. I'm sure as parents, you are happy just to see the joy on their face, and eventually, they will know it was all from you anyway!

Since we're not specifying Santa yet, since DD is so young, I'm not sure how many we'll do. I think the biggest present will definitely always be from Santa, then a few here & there. Just not sure yet.

  • A few small things in the stocking. No gifts under the tree from Santa.
  • Most of the presents are from Santa and mom and dad just give a few, kind of the same as everyone else.

  • Stockings and one or two "big" gifts (left unwrapped under the tree) are from Santa. All the other presents are out under the tree now/as we receive them and are from us, relatives, friends, etc.

  • We'll probably have everything be from Santa- he's gonna be confused and excited enough as it is! Not to mention the fact that his birthday is exactly one week before Christmas and we leave to visit our family 2 days after his birthday- so he's just going to have a straight week of opening stuff! I doubt he'll know where anything came from by the end of it all Smile
  • Everything is from Santa except for one gift bag which inclues a sweatshirt, pjs, and a purse.  That is from us.  We will also be beginning a traditon where she gets one nutcrakcer from us every year on Christmas Day.   On x-mas eve the kids will get jammies, and ornament and a book from us.

This.  For DH, Santa presents were not wrapped.  Hey...that's easier for me. :)
