New here...on bedrest

Hi! I have been reading this board for a while, but I can't post from work. I wanted to introduce myself since I am now on bed rest and will have lots of time to post.

I am 21w 5d pregnant with boy/girl twins. I went to the doctor this morning because I had a little spotting and unusual discharge (sorry, TMI) over the weekend. My cervix has shortened to 1.6 so I have been admitted to the hospital. They started me on procardia and progesterone shots.The plan is to keep me here for a few days to keep an eye on things and make sure I'm not having any contractions. If my cervix remains stable, I'll get to go home, but the doctor said that I'll most likely be on couch/bed rest for the duration of the pregnancy. I seriously never thought this would happen to me, but here I am and I have to make the best of it!

    welcome! I'm sorry about the bedrest but hoping you can keep those babies cooking for a long time! I'll be on bedrest all winter too so we can chat during the long days. :)

    Hi! We have a lot in common! I was also successful on my 2nd IVF and got pregnant with b/g twins! And I was also on hospital bedrest for a few weeks until my twins were born at 32 weeks. I hope they can keep your LOs baking for many, many more weeks! Good luck and hang in there!!!

    I'm sorry you're going through some scary stuff at the moment, and I hope that things stay stable so you can keep those babies in for a lot longer!

    I saw your response to my post on SAIF, so I wanted to respond and say I'm sorry for the big scare!  It looks like we'll have each other for company over the next few months, so I look forward to getting to know you.  Take care of those babies!

    for what its worth, once your babies are here (and hopefully healthy!) bedrest will become a distant thing in the past.   it seriously feels like my bedrest days were so long ago that they were in a different life.  at the time, they went by sooooooo slowly but life is going by so fast now that it almost makes me appreciate all the downtime that i once had.

    Thanks everyone for the warm wishes! The first night in the hospital wasn't bad at all. I was able to get some sleep.
