3rd Trimester

I don't even have a car seat yet.

We are getting a new infant seat because the one we have is getting old and close to expiration. I know we have to do it, but I just keep putting it off. Blah.

And my oldest son needs a new one, too. Car seat shopping is not my idea of fun.

Re: I don't even have a car seat yet.

  • And they're SO expensive.

I dropped $170 on DS's carseat because it goes from the 5 point to the high backed booster to the backless booster. (It's the Graco Nautilus, I think.) I know it's going to last me for years so $170 really isn't that much when you put it into perspective, but to drop almost $200 out of the checking accoutn all at once - ouch!

(Flame Free Disclaimer: Not that the expense isn't worth it, of course. Obviously you can't put a price on yoru child's life.)

Yep, and my child is huge so I'm having a hard time finding an affordable seat for extended harnessing that is tall enough. It's a huge PITA.

  • I hear ya. We just bought a new car so my older girls need new car seats for one of the cars. Plus I need to buy a new base for the baby.

  • We don't have ours yet either! *GASP* My FIL and his GF are supposed to be buying it for us, but it's only available online, and we can only find it at Walmart, which is out of stock right now! AGAIN!!! I hope they already ordered it and are just waiting for it to come in, cause I'm starting to freak out a little bit. The seat we have from DS expires at the end of this year, so unless baby comes Early, we can't even use it! Thank Goodness my mom has one that is still good for a couple years from my adopted brother. We will be using that one until we get our new one if baby comes early!
  • At least you've been through it before - you know what you like and don't.  That'll make the shopping easier.

How tall is he? My DS is 38" and he fits perfectly in it.

  • He's about 40", but tall in the torso. A lot of the shoulder straps would be outgrown quickly.

Oh, and we have to fit 3 across, so the seat can't be super wide. LOL...lots of requirements with his seat.

Have you checked out the Sunshine Radian? We just bought a new minivan, but we have to fit 3 across in my husbands SUV. I plan on getting the girls the Radians.

    Hmmmm, that's quite the predicament...

I think the Nautilus is a little wider than most seats...

  • We just got the BOB stroller, so our options for not spending an arm and a leg on an infant carseat are even slimmer now! It's also like $60-70 for a freakin' adapter to get a car seat in the stroller. This stroller better rock my world.
