What gift do you plan to give your sitter/DCP?

I don't know if I should just give her extra money the next time I write her a check, or an actual gift of some sort.
What do you plan to give your sitter or DCP?

  • A 100 giftcard to her favourite store and a gift basket of cookies and assorted holiday items.

  • I think we will get her a gc to a good restaurant, probably for $75

  • You have a new SN, what gives?

I plan to give my DCP the pleasure of the presence of my child 4 days a week (my DCP is my MIL). What more could she ask for?

This is a good idea. I was also thinking along the lines of money and a gift.?
My sitter really loves gourmet chocolates, so maybe I'll do something like that.?
    Thanks for the idea!
  • cash, and cookies.

I went the cash route b/c if she was ever audited, then she might have to account for the extra $ that she hadn't paid taxes on.

  • We did an amex giftcard last year for $150. Not looking foward to next xmas when she has 2 of my kids!
  • We are getting our babysitter a windchime.  She has a few of them that hang from her porch.  The children and her and her husband love to listen to them.  I am getting one with butterflies because she likes them.  Last year I had a fresh centerpiece delivered to her house for Christmas.  I try and stay between $20 and $30.

  • DD goes to an early preschool type program one day a week. I planned on a small GC and some home baked cookies. FWIW it costs us about $100 a month for the program so yeah I am not getting her something to spendy. I got a huge gift as a teacher ($100 to Nordstrom's) once I felt sooo awkward about it!

  • A friend of ours watches DS 1-2 days each week. We got her this book.

I'm also going to have DS make a finger painting. Sounds a little silly, but it's right up her alley.

  • DD goes to preschool three days a week. I made her teacher a date night gift basket. It contains a bottle of wine, chocolate, candles a $25 GC to a resturant and a $25 GC to a movie theater.

For her swim teacher who has been her swim teacher for 3 years, and is DS's this year. I made a "mexican night" gift basket with salsa, chips, margaritta mix, and a $25 CG to a local mexican resturant.

For her PE, Music and computer teachers I bought a 4 pack of mugs with Hot chocolate mix from Sams. I added a $15 Starbucks GC for her dance teacher.

  • Wow, I feel cheap. I got a gift package of lotions, soap etc. that came in a nice travel bag from Bath & Body Works for her 2 DCPs. I guess I will probably throw in Amex gift cards and bake some cookies too. Didnt realize, people gave so much.

Yeah - me too!  Last year, DD had 4 main ladies and I gave each a $30 Target GC - I wanted to give more, but for 4 ppl, that really adds up!  This year, DD's teacher (she only has one in the room she's in now) has only been around a few months and is leaving after Christmas, so she's getting a $50 Target GC.
