I'm at my wits end. I woke up a few days ago with what felt like a severely stiff neck in the back of my head. Stretched, hot pad, water, etc. Didn't go away.
I'm now about 5 days later and I've been having severe neck/back/should pains - all in the upper back/neck area, mostly to the left of my spinal column. It comes in waves - and sometimes I have spasms that make me look like my head is twitching. I try to stretch it out, drink tons of water, hot showers/heating pads, Tylenol. Nothing seems to change it. DH gave me a light massage, nothing. It feels so deep into the muscle that only going inside would get to it. And sleeping - forget it. Nothing is comfortable.
Any recommendations? What is this? I thought second tri was suppossed to be so much easier???
Re: please help - severe shoulder/neck/back pain and spasms
I'm not sure what that is; I'm sorry. But I would absolutely recommend going to a chiropractor. Mine has helped me a lot with my lower back and sciatic pain, and it's great b/c there are no drugs involved. I bet one would be able to help a lot. Just go to someone reputable - some of them would have you go every day for a month (ridiculous) while a good one won't push that hard. Mine just tells me to come in whenever I have pain, not every day or week or anything.
Have you started using a body pillow for support? That might help too, especially if you sleep on your side with a pillow between your thighs.
Feel better!
I would go to a chiropractor. I used to be afraid of them until one day 3 years ago I could barely walk and had no choice but to go... I have been going ever since and haven't had a problem. I'm still going now every week, which is really helping me stay pain free as much as possible through this pregnancy. GL to you.
For what it is worth, I don't think the second trimester in a twin pregnancy is easier than the first. In fact, I find it is getting harder by the minute, makes me want to go back to the first trimester.
