TTC After a Loss

Ugghhh finally can come on today!

Such a long day but now im am in my PJ's and on the couch watching my shows on my DVR and about to start drinking my glass of wine...

how is everyone?

I kinda saw that over the weekend there were a lot of BFP's!! Congrats to all!!

I go to see my OB tomorrow morning to get my prescription for Clomid...bad thing is I still don't think I have Oed yet or started AF so what do you ladies think? have I Oed? Or should I just end this cycle and ask for a prescription to end this cycle??

I know my OB will answer these questions but im nervous and not sure if I should even ask to end this cycle yet...what would you do?

  • It looks like you *could* be 12dpo, but the temp shift isn't real clear.  And the several +opk's several days apart is kinda weird.  I think perhaps your body has been trying to O but hasn't yet.  Not to worry you, but has your Dr talked about doing bloodwork or an u/s to rule out PCOS?  That would explain the long annovulatory cycles.  It took me 16 months off of birth control and needing progesterone to induce a period several times to finally get diagnosed.  I'm hoping it's not PCOS, but that would definitely explain a lot and it is very treatable!

To answer your question about whether or not to end the cycle, could you ask your OB for a progesterone blood test?  That would tell you if you've O'd or not.  If you haven't O'd, you could start a new cycle with Provera or Prometrium and then start the clomid.

  • It looks like you might have O'ed, perhaps it was just not a strong O or maybe lower progesterone levels this time? I'm not sure kinda just throwing out ideas here :/ Sorry.  Let us know what your Dr. says tho! GL!

Thanks for all the info! Yes I see him tomorrow and I think he will want to do a blood test to see if I have Oed before giving me something to end this loooong cycle...

I asked him 2 weeks ago about me having PCOS and he just kinda shook his head and said "oh sweety I dont think so but I can see why you would ask" I have like no other symptoms...I am 115 lbs and have a really healthy history of normal periods and normal ovulation before the m/c...but he is putting me on Clomid now and thinks this will get me KU pretty fast..because when I do O "normally" I seem to get pregnant pretty quick. I have had a few chemical pregnancies in the past.

I just don't know if I really have Oed yet...I don't think I have but for about 2 weeks now I have been having pretty bad right side pain..so I just don't know..hope I find out more tomorrow!

Sounds like you and your Dr are on top of it!  I don't seem like the textbook PCOS pt either (normal wt, no extra unwanted hair, etc).  My only symptom was lack of cycles and then polycystic ovaries on u/s--my bloodwork was even normal.  It's a very good sign that you're still cycling and still ovulating, albeit late.  I hope the clomid is just what you need to get your sticky baby quickly!  :-)

Thanks me too! How has clomid been for you? Have you been on it long?

I've done 3 clomid cycles, the first two on 50mg and the last one on 100mg and I ovulated with each cycle (using a trigger shot).  DH and I decided today to take a break over the holidays, it's just too stressful with all the monitoring appts, timing intercourse with my work schedule (I work nights, he works days) and the holidays all combined.  As far as side effects, I really didn't have many.  I did notice a reduction in CM, but we use preseed to remedy that.  Also my lining was thin on u/s.  But I didn't get headaches, major mood swings or hot flashes.  Hopefully you won't have any major SE's either!!

Don't worry about it, I don't mind answering questions.  No it's not a magic pill, but it should help you to O sooner and stronger.  If nothing else having a sooner O will shorten your cycles and give you guys more chances!  I hate long cycles because sometimes I only get ONE chance when someone with normal cycles gets TWO chances.  Grrr.  Anyway, yes I do have the CBEFM but it never detected O for me before my trigger shot (which forces O).  If you're not planning to use a trigger, then it should still work for you.

I have heard about the trigger shots..but I didn't think my OB would be doing that too...but I guess I will be finding out tomorrow...do you usually get a trigger shot along with taking clomid? or is it normal to just start clomid and if that doesnt work at the trigger?

I brought all my charts to him two weeks ago and the only thing he said to worry about was twins...haha now DH thinks we are doomed to having twins and im gonna die cause im so small hahaha

The trigger isn't standard with clomid, it's just another option.  We did it because then I would know when I was O'ing and could BD accordingly (like I said, working nights totally screws up our BD schedule--so knowing exactly when I am O'ing is really nice!!).  I think most people try clomid for a few cycles to see if it makes you O on your own without the trigger.  Lol--your DH is funny.  We'd LOVE twins...especially after this past year!

My first cycle I did days 5-9, the second two I did 3-7.  I don't think either is "better", and I really didn't question my OB as to why she changed it.  It didn't affect my O date.  The 1st cycle I took 50mg days 5-9, and the 2nd cycle I took 50mg days 3-7 and both cycles I had one mature follie and triggered on CD15.  My 3rd cycle I took 100mg days 3-7 and didn't have a mature follie until CD21.  As odd as it seems, the increased dose actually made me O later.  Whatever.  My body never has followed the rules.
