Pregnant after a Loss

WDYT of 2 middle names for LO?

I've never been a huge fan of giving a child so many names, but DH has suggested this. We would be using 2 because both of our father's are deceased, and he doesn't want to leave one out. We don't want to use either as the first name.  LO wouldn't have to go by both middle names, but then I feel like we really aren't honoring anyone if you don't plan to use it!  DH is worried if we don't get the chance to have another that one of the grandpa's wouldn't get honored. Anyone else using 2 middle names? Consider it?  Hate it?  Love it?

  • We are doing it.. we suck at compromise... and we both wanted to honor our moms.

  • We are doing it.  It's a family tradition for both DH and I.  The mns are always meaningful.  So my vote is love it!
  • It might be a mouthful, but your LO will always love having a name that honors both grandparents. I say go for it!
  • I love making the middle name mean something. And I think two middle names is a great idea.

  • I know a few people who have 2 middle names (usually in their cases it's a name from each parent's nationality), and they've never complained. They like it! Besides, no one will think it's weird to have two middle initials listed (think George H. W. Bush). I say go for it!

  • We are doing two as well. I loved one and he loved the other and they are both his grandfather's names

  • It's not my style but you have a really good reason for doing it.

  • My birth name was Erin Kathleen McCoy S-----.  When I got married I shortened it to just Erin Kathleen McF.  My family calls me Erin Kate, and I've always liked having a piece of my mom's maiden name in mine.  It became too much of a mouthful when I got married to add another name, but I loved it growing up.

My dad is Edward Jeremiah Joseph after his two grandfathers.

I think it's an excellent solution, very elegant!

  • I have two middle names - the first is three syllables, the second is two syllables. Add that to my first name of three syllables and my maiden name of FIVE syllables and boy oh boy did I have quite the time of saying and spelling my name when I was a wee one. : )

But I survived, I don't think I was ever teased or anything, and I do get a lot of compliments on it (it does flow really well and is super pretty) when people find out.  I kinda of dig it truth be known... though my daughter will only have one cuz we have no real reason to give her more than one.
