Or maybe a couple.

It's not bad enough that I have to spend all of Christmas Eve and Christmas day with my IL's... The cheap gifts that H and I planned on giving to the adults in his family (homemade tamales) are now out. MIL has decided to do an assigned gift exchange instead. Too bad we have already bought most of the ingredients for the tamales. Therefore, H, the generous spender, is still going to give everyone Tamales AND we have to buy a gift. At least there is a $35 limit.

Oh - I forgot - the exchanges are individual, not by couple. I am buying for MIL, he is buying for SIL. So really we are spending $70 Crying We both make the tamales so that's not as big of a deal, except the ingredients themselves are about $100 after everything is said and done.

have you thought about just giving MIL tamales and if she asks saying the ingredients cost $35

or better yet, put $35 of tamale making ingredients in a box and wrap those up for her -- like a tamale kit Devil

Grrrr...My BIL and SIL did something very similar. They are hosting Christmas this year, and they just told us YESTERDAY that we are doing a gift exchange w/ a $25 limit. WTF, we are already buying everyone a gift already - so unnecessary. Then, to top it off, they put our unborn child in the drawing, so we have to spend an extra $75 to buy gifts for three people and have one week to do so because we leave next week. Angry
