Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Cold at night, what temp. is your house?

We use space heaters during the day and turn them off at night so by the time we wake up in the morning, most of the house is in the mid-60's and DS's room is usually around 67 degrees. I'm worried that he gets too cold at night, sometimes in the morning his feet are like ice cubes. He sleeps in footed pajamas (cotton) and a fleece swaddle wrap, but last week it was super cold (30s at night) and I had him in fleece footies and the swaddle wrap.

So, is your house cold? And what does your LO sleep in?

  • 68 is what we keep our house at all the time during Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, and Mar. Then we are forced to turn on the A/C.

Lo sleeps in long sleeved/pant PJs and with his blanket.

  • we keep the house around 69 and DS sleeps in a sleeper (cotton or fleece). why not leave the space heater on low in his room?

ETA: DS sleeps with a super warm crocheted blanket every night as well.

  • Our house is 65. DD sleeps in footed PJs or a 2-piece PJ set with socks, and then a fleece sleep sack over that.

If you're comfortable, so is the baby. It shouldn't matter what the temp is outside - the temp inside is what matters.

  • With DD we keep the heat around 70.
  • out temp is set at 68, and sleeps in long sleeve sleepers and a thicker blanket
  • Well I just worry because I sleep with cats and a down comforter and DS is just in his wrap. It does matter how cold it is outside to us, because we have sh!tty windows that let all the heat out. I have thought about leaving the heater on, but then I worry all night that it's going to burn something up.

I guess as long as his body is warm his feet and legs don't really matter as much.

  • Sheesh.. I have the temp set at 72 and have DD in cotton footed pj's and 2 blankets on top of her. Her hands and nose are still cold in the morning.

  • Temp is at 68 all day and night.  DS sleeps in light cotton footed sleeper and a fleece sleepsack.  We also use a crocheted blanket sometimes.

  • We keep it at 67 at night and the girls sleep in footless sleepers with a sleepsack over it. As my doctor told me....if they are cold they will wake up.

  • our house is freezing balls from about Nov till March. I keep the heat at 72, but its stupid gas heat so it sucks. Our top floor is like an igloo in the winter and the pit of hell in the summer...baby J sleeps in a footed sleeper and a heavy fleece sleep sack...i may need to start using a fleece sleeper instead of a regular cotton one...

  • We keep the house at 69 overnight.  DD sleeps in footed pj's and in a cotton sleep sack and wakes up with no cold parts ;)
  • Our thermostat is at 63 at night.  The kids are all in warm fleece jammies and I put socks on the baby under his footed sleeper.  We also have warm mist humidifiers in their rooms and it makes the room feel warmer.

  • We keep the house at 60 and the space heater is his room at 70. He sleeps in a cotton footed sleeper and fleece sleep sack.
  • We keep the heater set at 71.  He sleeps in footed pjs and I wrap a large receiving blanket around him a couple of times.  He's plenty warm when I pick him up in the morning.

  • OK, now I A) Feel like a weenie for thinking my house is cold and B) am thinking that maybe I'll just add socks under his pjs and wait for him to tell me he's miserable by waking up. Thanks!!
