TTC After a Loss

Consolidating my Sophia videos

I'm trying to consolidate all my videos from our camcorder, phones, and camera into one DVD so we can watch all the videos and easily find them.

The only problem is our video from the hospital was our old camcorder with a tape (we upgraded the first week she was home).

Any ideas how to get this one video from a tape onto the DVD with all the others???

Re: Consolidating my Sophia videos

  • I would call Kinkos and ask for advise. I am not sure... but if anyone know they should.

    GL!

I know this is going to be a tough project.... but, hopefully it is healing as well.

  • There are video stores in my neighborhood (local ones, not chains) that digitize your tapes for you. Perhaps you could call around to some of the ones in your area and find out if they do it, too.

  • Yes. My dh just did this w/our old vaca videos.....

Do you still have the old tape camcorder? and DVD recorder?

Hook it up to the tv or computer and play it. While it plays, record it to disc. We hooked ours up on a saturday while we were home on a 2nd TV. We checked in on it every couple of hours.

  • My mom went to a camera place and they converted all of their old video's (8mm and camcorder) onto DVD's.  I don't think it was even that expensive.

This. My mom now has hours (HOURS, I TELL YOU) of old home movies on DVD. We watch them a lot. A LOT.

GENIUS!  I'll be making DH help me with this tonight!

  • I know you can buy converters that go from tape to DVD, but that could be more expensive than you want if you don't have lots of other things to convert.  I'd check with a camera store; they might be able to do it or tell you who could.

I had this problem with a TV show I did as a PCV in BG.  I took the tapes to a store which put them on a DVD for me.  I know there are stores out there that do this, but for the life of me, I don't remember what it was called.  It wasn't that expensive about $40 for 2 tapes to DVDs.  I hope this helps.

You also may be able to hook it up to your laptop/computer.  This is what I do as we are not purchasing a new camera until we have our first LO.
