Who has had preterm labor, lots of BH or ctx?
Yesterday I was shopping with my mom for a couple of hours and I mentioned that I was ready to sit down because my lower back was hurting. My mom, the L&D nurse, freaked a little bit and started asking me 100 questions about what I felt. I told her that my lower back was just achy and a dull pain that after walking around a lot of the pain moved around to my lower belly.
We weren't that active and I drank TONS of water so she was a little nervous that the pains weren't going away, even when I sat. I was having BH but they were different then they were in the last couple of days. I cant really explain how, just different. I am going to the Dr at 9 this AM anyway and I will be sure to tell her all about it but I would like to hear about some of your experiences if you have them...
Re: Who has had preterm labor-- come in
Thanks Cara. I will let you know what the Dr says.
Hope you get good news at the dr.!
If it helps, I've been having alot of that lately, well, the past few months. Apparently, for me at least, it's just sore muscles and pulling and your lower belly having to support that extra weight while you're walking around that makes it hurt.... in my case at least!
I'll be watching for your update!
I started having BH with my second pregnancy at 12 weeks. They eventually got longer, no pain but lasting up to a minute.
When I was 23w5d my water broke. Since there was no infection or other reason to "blame" my doctor thought it was from early and constant BH putting stress on teh amniotic sac.
Anytime there is pain with BH or they have any pattern to them, it is an issue. I would stress it to your dr.

I went to L&D at 26 weeks because I was having too many BH. I thought I was having 6 an hour but on the monitors they saw ctx every 2-3 minutes. However, my cervix was hard & closed. They had me chug water, gave me a shot of terbutaline to stop ctx, and told me to drink more water daily.
I still have a lot of BH, but as long as they are irregular and stop when I rest (within a couple of hours), I consider them "my normal."

I hope it goes well!
I went into preterm labor with Isaac around 31/32 weeks. I had polyhydramnios (excess fluid) which caused it. The only reason I found out was because I woke up in the morning to bright red blood and was like What the HECK?! Called the on-call doc who wanted me to go straight to L&D. They hooked me up to the monitors and it turns out I was having pretty regular BH contractions.
After two shots of terbutaline and then a perscription for terbutaline to continue taking orally, they sent me home.
Hope all is okay... I'll b echecking for your update!
I had it starting at 24wk with ds. i had some back pain that wasn't terrible but i figured i'd play it safe and call the ob. turns out, i was contracting every 2-3min (i thought it was the baby moving) and at 1cm/50%.
i had an irritable uterus so i literally contracted all day every day. they were painless but dilated/effaced me despite meds and bedrest until i delivered.
water and laying on your left side can help but also remember to empty your bladder. a full bladder can really aggrevate your uterus and cause increased contractions.
