How long does your LO nap in his or her crib?

Just started trying to get DS to nap in his crib and he falls asleep pretty easily but only stays asleep for 30 to 40 minutes. He'll nap in his swing for hours though. Anyone else make this transition and if so how did you get your LO to sleep longer in their crib?

  • that happened when we transitioned to the crib too. its took probably a week or 2 for him to adjust. now he'll take 2 hour naps at a time.

  • my DD only takes 30 min naps in her crib.  I put her in the swing yesterday & she slept for 1.5 hours...her longest nap ever!  too bad the swing has that 25# weight limit...I'd use it forever

this exactly.  we got a two hour nap last thursday and that's our tops so far.  they maxed out at 30 minutes for about a week, though.

  • 0 minutes... Crying  DD will only sleep in her bouncer, and that's while I'm bouncing it for her the whole time.  We have been trying for weeks to get her to nap in her bassinet or crib with no luck.
  • DS will take hour naps for his babysitter in the crib at her house, but will only nap 30-40 minutes for me at home. Sad

  • Most times my DS will only nap for 30-45 minutes in his crib (a cycle of the Sleep Sheep) but occasionally he'll make it for over an hour.  I'm still working on this myself.   But each time it gets better and he's beginning to fall asleep on his own (with the help of his mobile or Sleep Sheep).

When you were transitioning, did you still have your LO's take naps in places you know they would get some sleep (your arms or their swing) to make sure they were getting the sleep they needed? That's my dilemma right now....

  • I get about a good hour to hour and a half.  But my problem is getting them down at the same time.  Usually there is a half hour lag between them.  We're working on it!

  • Anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. It's really random.
  • he doesn't yet. we're hoping to start that over the holidays since DH will be home to help.
