I went to a Christmas party at a bowling alley on Sunday. There was a childrens' birthday party right next to us. There were about 8-10 adults, moms and dads. Then there was about 20 kids ranging in ages from literally like a week old to 10ish.
The dads were all sitting at the back table drinking and smoking. The moms were all "helping" with the kids. There was one little boy who was clearly being ignored and he cried for the entire 2.5 we were there. He was about 13 months and they kept calling him a crybaby, and no one did anything to stop him from crying.
There was a new baby there that could not be a week or two old. I watched the new mom change her diaper with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth while she did it. Then she proceeded to bowl while holding the baby. She carried this baby around like it was a rag doll.
The absolute worse thing. This maybe 7 year old girl was there bowling. She threw up 3 times, never making it to the bathroom which was only steps away. I overheard the parents ask a waitress for a bucket so she could throw up in that...(I was glad to hear the waitress say, maybe you should take her home.)
I have never seen such a gigantic trainwreck of people in my life!!
Re: Yeah, I judged these parents...
Awful.
Wow that sucks!!
I agree with the PP. I have lived in a place where you can't smoke indoors for so long...and it is strange to me that there are places you still can! Whenever we drive to MN from NY stopping at restaurants is always strange.
On May 1st, 2010 our state will have the same law. I can't wait.
Could it have been a theme party? White Trash Birthday, maybe?
Or perhaps it was some kind of weird bowling alley performance art.
gross. i'm so glad VA is smoke free now. i can't imagine what goes through the heads of people who just blow it in their kids faces or those that ride in the car with their kids and open a tiny crack like it's going to help
and the little girl throwing up...WTF?
