If you are going OOT for Christmas

Are you opening presents before or after your trip?

We are flying and we don't want to pack a bunch of presents to bring with us. Plus, we'll need room to pack everything our families get for DS, or ship them home. I want to make it fun and not just have DH & DS open his gifts on a random boring night!

TIA!

Re: If you are going OOT for Christmas

  • We're taking ours with us, but it's a 4 hour drive, not a flight, so I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to bring them along. If we weren't bringing them, I'd want to (selfishly :D) have our xmas at home the night or morning before we left, so Sierra could have her first one with us as a little family instead of everyone else too...

  • We are doing our Christmas/gift opening on Sunday the 20th. I'm setting aside that day before we leave for just us. DS is too young to really know or understand anyhow and will be getting a few gifts to open from his family in MI, too.

  • If we were flying we'd just open presents after we got home.

We are driving this time though, so we're bringing Zachary's small presents with us.  His large presents (a wagon and a table and chairs) will be waiting for him when we get home.

  • We're not opening presents at all. DH already gave me my gift and I gave him his... not wrapped. And I bought stuff for Lydia and will probably just break stuff out when she seems bored. She's not into opening gifts or understanding it yet so we're just bypassing the whole thing.
