I am mostly a lurker as DH and I are not TTC yet, but will be soon. However I have extremely irregular periods, and they are getting worse. I am currently on the 54th day of my cycle. I know I've read on here before to talk to a doctor if I get to day 60-I'm just wondering what they will do for me if I reach that point. Thanks ladies.

Re: Please don't flame me-newbie with a question!!
Love & luck to my 3TC girls. Congrats to Omega-The boys are here!
If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
In my experience they will give you progesterone to induce your period.
I don't know when you stopped birth control but it can take a year for your system to regulate. Good luck!
Good luck to you. I hope you don't make it to day 60.
P.S. Your question was not at all flameworthy. Questions that get flamed are those such as: I'm late for my period and I have a headache. Could I be pregnant?
You're totally fine.
Again, good luck.
Good to know! I havent come up with any dumb questions yet, and hopefully it stays that way!
I'm a fellow lurker and soon-to-be-TTCer
. Seeing that my DH is a doctor, I can't not tell you to take a pregnancy test. Any chance you're currently preggo?
I was on the pill for over 10 years and once I went off the pill (6 months ago in prep to TTC next month for the first time), I had very irregular cycles for a few months. One was around 50 days. My doctor did a blood test to check my hormone levels and the only thing that came back was high LH, which made sense for me since high LH levels delay ovulation and therefore periods. This is common with ovarian cysts, which I have a history of. My doctor said to wait it out and my cycles would regulate over time. They have! I've had three 31-day cycles in a row! Any chance you've just come off of the pill? The doc will do a blood test and then if you have trouble conceiving, they would give you meds (like Clomid) to induce ovulation. BUT, you could just use an ovulation kit and test every day so that you know when to TTC, regardless of how long your cycles are! Hope this helps!
I have been off bcp since April. I just had blood drawn on Friday, and I should hear back on those this week. They also scheduled an ovary scan. I'm hoping for good news from all of this, but I don't think just waiting it out would get my cycles to regulate. They are out of control!!
Hello!
I'm a fellow newbie whose cycles are out of control (off BCP in Sept). I'm currently on CD59, and I have a Dr appt tomorrow. I suspect he will be prescribing meds to bring on AF.
Best of luck to you! Hope things back to normal for you soon.
Same to you!!
We aren't TTC yet, but I've been having similar problems. Came off BC in late August and my cycles have been getting progressively longer. The last one was 52 days before AF finally showed. I haven't talked to my OB about it yet because I just figured it was my body adjusting. I've been wondering too how long to wait before I go in.
(Fellow newbie here!)
It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one having this problem. My first month off of BC was a normal 32 day cycle, but this month I am on day 37 and no AF. It's frustrating to be late and have a BFN!
I'd really like to get AF going so that I can try my OPK.
I'm wondering how long to wait before I go to my doctor, and which dr. would I visit, my ob/gyn or family dr.?
If you have an OB/GYN, visit them to talk about this.
Remember that just because you get a positive OPK, doesn't mean you are ovulating. Talk to your Dr about everything and hopefully he/she can give you a plan and some information. GL!
I went to a family doc, but I really didn't care for him. (I'm sure it was more the doc than the fact that he was family practice) Today is day 55 for me-its really frustrting. When I went off BCP in April I was semi regular, then in July it went nuts, got back to semi regular, and now its just been crazy. I know it can take up to a year to be regular, but I woul like to get things figured out before I start ttc (which this doc just didnt understand)
Thanks so much.
While I'm here, I was wondering...Should I be DTD while I'm waiting for AF? Would it help or matter at all...especially if I'm still adjusting and might not have AF this month?
I've been trying to figure that out, but since I don't really know what's going on with my body...I'm at a loss.
