Christmas craft ideas

for an almost 2 year old to her Daddy.  DH doesn't want me to buy him anything for Christmas, and since I don't work, I'd really just be buying him something with "his" (not his quote, mine, although I know it's ours yada yada) money.

But I really want him to have something under the tree to unwrap. Any thoughts?

Re: Christmas craft ideas

  • Check out www.freebies4mom.com they have free things on their all the time. Today is a free flip book from Snapfish. You could put in pictures of the two of them together. She could finger paint a picture frame with a picture of the two of them (or three of you) in it. I would try Michael's or the Dollar Store for the frame. White napkins from the Dollar Store with LO's handprint in fabric paint and the year on it. Brightening posted a great site yesterday with fun holiday crafts on it, you could make one of those and give it (ornament made out of spool of ribbon looked really cute).

  • Back when we only had our first son we put paint on his feet and put footprints up the back of a blue t-shirt. Then I got iron-on letters and put "My son walks all over me".

Another thing we did was take 4 photos - one of our boys had the letter "D" (cut from poster board), the other had a big "A", the other a "D" and our dog had an "A". We put the 4 photos in a frame that had 4 openings. It said "DADA". I got the idea from a photo that said 'DAD' and it was just one little girl and they just took 3 photos of her in different poses with the different letters. So it works with multiple kids or just one.

  • Another idea is to go to one of those paint your own pottery places and have her paint a coffee mug or something. Don't forget to take photos of her painting it to give with the mug.

Here's another thing we made for dh (see link below). You have 3 more days to make and order this to arrive before Christmas with regular shipping. I know you said you didn't want to buy anything, but this is truly worth over penny (and it's not too expensive). Our extended family still talks about these all the time! I've done a few and they're all very different. One is about dh being the best dad in the world, one shows one of our sons from birth until his current age, another shows one of our sons from his current age down to birth etc.. There are lots of ways to mix it up.

Here's the ones for each of our boys:

This is the one that is actually about my husband being the 'best dad in the world' (actually I just watched this again and realized that the one picture in the video shows the tshirt we made 'my son walks all over me': https://www.onetruemedia.com/shared?p=77d102929a8fc5984183a0&skin_id=801
