so, i have some friend in NC that are going to give us a GC & soft items shower when we are there for new years, since we won't be back again before the baby is born. this drove me to finally register for the baby, at least at target so far. even after reading baby bargains, i have some questions. maybe they told me #'s to get, but i am not sure.
so, here are my questions:
1) how many bottles/nipples will i need? i plan to breastfeed, but you never know how that will really work out, right? what is a good number to start with?
2) how many fitted sheets do i need for the bed? along those lines, how many mattress covers?
3) did you register for breast pump, monitors, strollers, car seats...you know, the larger ticket items?
4) how many blankets do you need?
any other tips you might want to grace me with would be appreciated, too.
thanks ladies!

Congrats! Registering is super fun -- but hard too. Here's what I did.
1) how many bottles/nipples will i need? i plan to breastfeed, but you never know how that will really work out, right? what is a good number to start with? I didn't register for any or buy any until after dd was born. I bf her and she rarely takes a bottle. We have 1 that we've used a handful of times.
2) how many fitted sheets do i need for the bed? along those lines, how many mattress covers? We have 3 fitted sheets and that has been enough for us. I also have 2 PNP sheets. I have 2 mattress covers.
3) did you register for breast pump, monitors, strollers, car seats...you know, the larger ticket items? We bought the crib, crib mattres, dresser, glider, breast pump (the Medela comes with a few bottles) and bedding ourselves. I did register for (and received) quite a few big ticket items: a video monitor, our travel system, Britax Marathon, Maclaren Quest, PNP, highchair and swing.
4) how many blankets do you need? I didn't register for any blankets and got 100,000,000,000....ok just kidding but I did get more blankets than I know what to do with.

I have twins but I'll give my advice cut in half for how many I use for one!
1) how many bottles/nipples will i need? i plan to breastfeed, but you never know how that will really work out, right? what is a good number to start with? I couldn't breastfeed but we figured 6-8 for our formula fed
2) how many fitted sheets do i need for the bed? along those lines, how many mattress covers? 2 sheets and 2 mattress covers to start out with. I think though I'm going to end up buying one more for each crib soon. A few nights in a row we had a couple spit ups the more ounces they are now taking in. But two is good for starting out
3) did you register for breast pump, monitors, strollers, car seats...you know, the larger ticket items? absolutely, we got it all and more!
4) how many blankets do you need? I have about 4-5 receiving blankets per baby. One is always in my diaper bag, one in the family room where we spend most of the time. As far as regular blankets we didn't register for any but most've received about 15-20. We use them a lot, we have a few in the car, some out in the family room, the handmade ones we do use tucked in their crib if it's cold out since they have holes in them. There are some I haven't opened yet but are there for backup. They are great on top of car seats and strollers.
Everything was bought off our registery, people were so generous. I was very stressed registering for some reason, it wasn't as fun to me as my wedding registry. I would say register for anything you think you need. The boppy pillow is our friend by the way!
