3rd Trimester

How to Reset Sleep Schedule?

Somehow, the past four days, I've gotten myself into the habit of not being able to fall asleep until 7 a.m. (despite going to bed at 12 and trying) and then not waking up until 1a.m.

Not sure how it happened but am sick of it - Anyway to naturally reset my schedule?  I don't want to take Tylenol PM or anything but I want to fix it tonight.

:(  This sucks.  Pls help. :(

Re: How to Reset Sleep Schedule?

  • Don't go to sleep at 7am force yourself to stay awake so when night time comes you are very tired. When I moved back home from Ireland I had to reset my schedule and it took a few days but you have to force yourself to lay in bed when you should be asleep and stay awake when you should be awake.

  • I know you don't want it, but Unisom is completely safe.  My doc recommends it for nausea & sleeplessness. It works well for me & doesn't leave me with any kind of hangover.

I think I might try it then.  I'll call and check with my advice nurse (not that I don't trust you!) and then get some.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  And I meant sleeping from 7a.m. to 1p.m., not 7a.m. to 1a.m., in my post.

Murf... you're right, I do.  At first I just couldn't sleep so when I was able to finally sleep, I did... but now I think it's turned into - I can sleep, it's just messed up.

  • Tonight, go to bed at a reasonable hour.  Take a warm bath, drink a cup of hot tea (I like Celestial Seasoning Sleepytime), then get into bed. Close your eyes and force yourself to lie there. It might take a couple of nights but eventually, you'll reset.

Or, you can pop a unisom tonight and that should help reset you.

  • Celestial Seasoning Sleepytime... Unisom....

I see a trip to Target in my future!

Thanks ladies.... I hope it works, I feel like a vampire.

If it makes you feel better I took Unisom every single night in my first/second tri. Not only did I not get addicted (I don't take it anymore) but my LO is still fine and healthy!

The only way to make the nausea go away was to knock myself out so I could get some sleep.

Just make sure the Unisom is the regular Sleep Tabs (in the orange box). The max strength is a different (non-mommy-friendly) chemical.

It comes in max strength? OMG that would knock me out for like a week!

  • Yay!  Okay, I did call the advice nurse just because I'm a Nervous Nelly.

They said Unisom (Or Doxylamine) - 25mg before bed is fine.

Or Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) - 50 mg. before bed is fine.

    I'll go with Unisom.
