Naptime/bedtime a major struggle all of a sudden

I'm at my wit's end right now.  DD is 28 months old and the last week or so have been HELL trying to get her to sleep.  It takes over an hour at nap time AND bed time.  It used to be SO easy.  Read her a few books and she'd go to sleep.  Not anymore.

And on top of that, she's waking up multiple times at night like she's a 2 month old instead of a 2 year old!

  • It could be an ear infection. They hurt worse when you lay down. I'd call the pedi. I used to know when Katie had one bc she slept like crap the night(s) before.

  • She's on Augmentin right now for a sinus infection.  This is her second round of antibiotics for her because Amox just didn't help it at all.  She just had her ears checked about 2 weeks ago at the allergy/asthma specialist and they were crystal clear.

Do you think one could have developed while on an antibiotic?

We are on vacation right now so we can't get to the pedi.

  • Well, my son went through this phase right before his 2nd birthday.  It lasted about 2 weeks.  But since you reposted that she has had a recent ear infection, I would think that maybe it is her ears rather than a phase.

  • Our son is going through a similar thing with protesting naps/bedtime.  He used to just fall asleep on the couch watching Mickey, etc for naps and I would carry him upstairs and he would stay asleep when I put him in his bed.  Now if he falls asleep on the couch, he wakes when you pick him up and freaks out and then I have to start the unwinding all over.  Bedtime is a protest lately too.  I think this is him trying to be in control over everything.  Could be a similar reason for yours...whatever it is, it is frustrating!
