  If you are moisturizing your child regularly and it is still there beyond a few days then you should take the baby to see a dermatologist. Trigger areas for eczema are creases of the elbows, behind the knees, groin ,hand etc these areas tend to be warm and moist causing a break down in the skin.

  Obviously your child can have eczema in other areas but those are the most common. If your child truly has it then moisturizer is not going to fix the problem. Most pediatricians dont prescribe adequate treatment of eczema thus why they send patients to us in dermatology.

  I don't have a LO with eczema, but I was a Lo with eczema, and I still have it.  My momma had me to the dermatologist within the first week, I was born covered in it.  He suggested lotions for me that would help (Eucerin, which I still use) and how to keep me cool and dry.

  Hate to be a debby downer, but DS1 got this 3 weeks after birth and still has it, nearly 2 years later.  He also had terrible baby acne and cradle cap.  The eczema has gotten better, but he still gets his "breakouts" in all those trigger places. 

  We use Elidel (prescription) for his.  So far, no eczema/cradle cap/baby acne for DS2 and he's 3 weeks old.  I'm crossing my fingers.  All of that stuff was such a pain in the you know what.

  DS1 had it, but it cleared up once his food allergies were diagnosed. One thing the ped told me is not to do so many baths. Also, we used Cetaphil and Aquaphor.
